CIMA 2015 Syllabus Structure

The CIMA Professional syllabus has been updated for 2015.

At each Professional level there are now three Objective Tests (e.g. E1, P1, F1) followed by an

Integrated Case Study.

You must progress by level in the order shown in the diagram to the left. To progress to the next

level you must have passed all 3 Objective Tests and the Integrated Case Study from the lower

level. The 3 Objective Tests within each level can be taken in any order, but must be passed

before attempting the Integrated Case Study for that level.

Objective Tests - The 9 technical exams (E1, E2, E3, P1, P2, P3, F1, F2, F3) will each consist of

90 minute 'Objective Tests' taken on a computer. These will be available all year around, starting

from January 2015. These exams are computer marked so results will be available shortly after

the exam.

Objective Tests use a combination of multiple choice, data entry, fill in the gaps and drag/drop style

questions. Questions will be selected randomly and will cover all of the learning outcomes within

the syllabus.

Integrated Case Study - there will now be a case study at each level - Operational, Management

and Strategic. These 3 hour computer exams will cover the syllabus from all 3 pillars within the

level you are sitting. There will be four fixed exam sittings a year - February, May, September and

November. These exams are human marked and results will be available c.3-4 weeks after the

exam are held.

The exams will be broken down into timed sections with tasks being set based on 'trigger'

information delivered at various points during the exam. The previously unseen trigger information

will build on the pre-seen material that you will receive a few weeks prior to the exam. The

questions will be discursive, and involve minimal calculations, short answers and essays. Some

tasks will also be linked.

As Kaplan is CIMA’s official publisher, you can be confident that our printed materials have been reviewed and

approved by CIMA’s academic faculty, meaning they are perfectly designed to get you through each exam.

CIMA Course Information

Kaplan offers a range of courses to support and prepare you for your exams

Tuition

Kaplan tuition courses give you maximum tutor contact time, allowing you to develop the deep technical understanding required to score 70% in the 9 Objective Test (OT) exams.

Tutors will cover key topics in detail, fully explaining the difficult, technical parts, giving you plenty of time to ask questions and interact. We’ll also provide you with a range of online

resources, via MyKaplan, for you to use outside of class. These will include practice tests, ensuring you are fully prepared for the new style OT exams.

Revision Plus Case Study Complete

Revision Plus courses have a high tech, 21st century feel, matching CIMA’s new exam

format. You’ll attempt questions online in class, with tutors accessing live reports on

your performance, allowing question debriefs to be truly personalised to your needs.

We’ve built bespoke online testing software that mimics CIMA’s exam environment,

meaning that our practice questions look and feel just like the real thing. Not only will

our practice questions allow you to identify knowledge gaps, they’ll also give you vital

experience of the exam software.

During the course, your expert tutor will recap the main topic areas and will focus heavily

on exam technique, ensuring you have the understanding and skills required to score

70%.

Case Study Complete courses use bespoke materials for your specific case study,

written by the same authors as the Official CIMA text books. You’ll know the Case

industry inside out!

Your expert tutor will recap all key technical areas in class, using scenario based

questions that look just like the real exam, ensuring that you have the understanding

and skills needed to succeed.

Kaplan has built testing software that mimics CIMA’s exam environment. In class, you

will sit two mock exams on a computer, attempting a series of timed tasks that simulate

the real exam. Not only will you develop the technique required for this very different

exam format, you’ll also get detailed feedback on how to improve from our expert

markers.
