Inside This Issue

Presidents Message September is upon us and the start of our new year begins! I hope your summer was filled with fun, family and travel and you are ready to rekindle friendships and CHWC’s mission of Companionship, Charity and Community. Your Leadership Team has been hard at work all summer planning a wonderful array of activities and events for your pleasure and participation!

While many of the outstanding CHWC team of leaders remain in place, we are excited to introduce new members who have joined to share their talents and enthusiasm. They bring new ideas, fresh approaches and much welcome insights.

Please help welcome Dianne Joyner, Co-1st VP who has selected wonderful menus and will arrange all the seating for our monthly lunches. No small task! Diane Ed- wards, our new Treasurer, who will keep track of all our funds and a multitude of oth- er details. The team of Elizabeth D’Andrea and Barb Shipman as Co-Chairs of

Membership, whose theme is Recruit and Keep, will bring some interesting, new approaches along with their very talented Committee members. Barbara Mc Bride and Myrta Keelan share leadership of the Hospitality Committee, where you will see some changes aimed at speeding up the delivery of lunches and Marcia Schenker, who is eager to share leadership of the Scholarship Commit- tee with Claire Lindley. Nancy Joyner and Denise Uva will head up the Sun- shine Committee and send thoughtful wishes to our members as needed.

We are excited to announce a new service. If a member wishes to have special seating accommodations based on mobility, hearing, eyesight or any other limita- tion, please note your need on the registration form and we will endeavor to have your requirements met. Please understand that while members will be accommo- dated with a companion if desired, whole tables cannot receive preferred seating based on the needs of one in the group.

While summer is a respite for most, our team has worked very hard to present a wonderful array of trips and activities. Thank you Mary Lou and the fabulous women who are trip leaders and apprentices. On the fundraising side. Mickey Johnston and Nina Doran have a lineup of fundraising events that will be sure to be successful thanks to the great chairs and committee members who have been diligently at work! I look forward to our September meeting on the 11th, to welcome all our members. We

have a full and exciting year ahead of us. Your input is important and welcomed. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any idea, issue or question.

Bayfront Health Seven Rivers Hospital

Topic: “New Emergency Room” Coming to Citrus Hills

Linda Stockton, CEO of Bayfront Health Seven Rivers will be the guest speaker at the September 11, 2019 luncheon at the Citrus Hills Women’s Club. We are honored to have her as our guest speaker. She will be speaking on the new stand-alone Emergency Room that Bayfront Health Seven Rivers will be opening in Citrus Hills in 2020. NEW CHECK IN PROCEDURE As our membership grows and luncheon attendance is soaring, we need to speed up the process of serving the meals. To make it easier on the wait staff, who must take down each person’s entrée and dessert selection, which is very time consuming, and with the blue card in the nametag, often members are not at the table …we can do bet- ter!

At check-in, you will see the same three lines to pick up your name tag. The ladies will ask your name and then tell you your table number…please remember this! She will also check the list for your entrée and dessert selection.

She will then hand you a colored craft stick indicating your entrée:

RED IS FOR THE HOT MEAL

BLUE IS FOR THE COLD MEAL OR SECOND CHOICE THAT MONTH

GREEN IS FOR THE CHWC SALAD

If you ordered the dessert, you are all set, the dessert will be served to you.

If you ordered a fruit cup you will be handed a YELLOW craft stick

Please take the sticks to your table before you start walking around and put them above you place setting. This will allow the wait staff to record the information much sooner and without waiting until you are seated to get the information. This should speed the delivery of the meal.

The sticks will be collected for reuse next month along with the collection of name tags.

With your cooperation, we believe this will be a smooth and easy process for all! at the table …we all can make this work!

Activity/Trip Sign-Ups and Cancellation Policy

The CHWC collects fees for various social and fund-raising ac- tivities throughout the year. Payment for such is due when a member signs up to attend the event or activity. Because of administrative costs and pre- payments due to vendors, the club is unable to issue a refund should a member have to cancel their reservation.

Therefore, we suggest the following as an alternative. Should there be a waiting list, the member can ask the activity/event coordinator for names on the list. The member can then call to obtain a substitute and arrange to give the payment directly to them.

1. Any member who cannot attend a meeting to sign up for a trip may give their check (or cash) to a friend who will be in attendance.

2. Trip sign ups will be limited to no more than four people per member. Checks are the preferred method of payment. However, cash will be accepted if the member places the correct amount in an envelope and writes her name on the envelope.

3. Once sign ups are closed, a waiting list will be established. To be on the waiting list, the member must provide a check/cash in an envelope to the Trip Planners at the meeting.

4. The waiting list (paid members and guests) will be used to determine if an addition- al bus can be added. If so, the Trip Planner will book the second bus and notify those affected that they have a confirmed reservation for the trip. Refunds will be made if 2 buses are not viable.

5. A Stand-by List (non-paid members/guests) will be established and used to accom- modate cancellations by those on the waiting list.
