Happy Mother's Day
Today is a celebration honoring all mothers and motherhood.
It is a time of reflection and appreciation for all the women in our lives,
living and deceased, who sacrifice and love us
unconditionally.
May is the month of Mary, the Mother of God. Scripture tells us when Jesus gave His mother to His disciple from the cross, He was giving her to all of us to the end of time. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom
he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son” and to the disci-
ple, “Here is your mother”. - John 19: 26-27
Go to Mary as you would your earthly mother. Tell her you are sad, lonely or fearful - she will comfort you. Talk to her about a difficult situa-tion or your spiritual and temporal needs - she will guide you.
“If you ever feel distressed during your day – call upon our Lady – just say this simple prayer:
‘Mary, Mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now.’
I must admit – this prayer has never failed me” -Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Have confidence in her unending support, trust her tender love and believe she will always bring you to her son, Jesus.
Only after the Last Judgment will Mary get any rest; from now until then, she is much too busy with her children.” -St. John Vianney
Vatican II, Lumen gentium # 61
... in suffering with Him as He died on the cross, she co-operated in the work of the Savior, in an altogether singu-lar way, by obedience, faith, hope, and burning love, to restore supernatural life to souls. As a result she is our Mother in the order of graceN..
