1 Chronicles 16:23-36

It has been God's intent from the very beginning for those who know Him to declare Him to the rest of the world.

among the nations among all peoples among the families of the nations all the nations all the people

Page 3: Church Planting

Revelation 7:9 (NIV)

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

In heaven there will representatives from every nation, tribe, people and language.

Page 4: Church Planting

Revelation 14:6-7 (NIV)

Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth--to every nation, tribe, language and people. 7 He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”

All the earth, every nation, tribe, language and people, will hear the gospel in the end times.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

Jesus wanted to make sure that His disciples understood their task.

All authority belonged to Jesus. He had the right to give the Great Commission. He had the right to command his disciples. We are obligated to follow.

We are to go to all nations. We are to make disciples of all nations. We are to baptize the disciples. We are to teach obedience regarding

everything that Jesus has commanded us.

Obedience

Mark 16:15-16 (NIV)

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

We are to go to all creation. We are to preach the good news. Those who believe are to be baptized. There are serious consequences for those

who don’t believe.

Page 7: Church Planting

Luke 24:45-49 (NIV)

45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

Repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached to all nations.

Page 8: Church Planting

Matthew 24:14 (NIV)

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

The Gospel will be preached to the whole world.

The end of the world, or the Second Coming, will not happen until the Gospel is preached to the whole world.

Believers are a part of the ushering in of the Second Coming.

Page 9: Church Planting

Matthew 24:34 (NIV)

I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

The Generation that accomplishes God’s task will not pass away.

We live in a time when we have the resources to accomplish God’s task.

The time limit for our work is This Generation! This should drive us to complete the task in

the next 20-30 years.

Generation

Page 10: Church Planting

John 20:21 (NIV)

Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

Our ministry is to be the same as Jesus’ ministry

We are to move from our home to those who need to hear the Gospel.

We are to move from our comfort zone in order to transmit the Gospel.

We may be called on to sacrifice in the same way as Jesus.

Page 11: Church Planting

Acts 1:8 (NIV)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

We will have power from the Holy Spirit. We will be witnesses for Jesus. Our witness is to begin at home and

spread to the ends of the earth.

Page 12: Church Planting

Luke 10:1-17 (NIV)

We are to go to the towns and places Jesus is about to go.

We are to search for the man of peace. We are to stay with the man of peace. If a man of peace is not present, then it

is assumed that Jesus is not coming at this time to this place.

We speak with the authority of Jesus.

Acts 10:1-3;11:13-18 (NIV)

1 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. 13 He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, 'Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. 14 He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.'

Acts 10:1-3;11:13-18 (NIV)

15 "As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' 17 So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?"

Acts 10:1-3;11:13-18 (NIV)

18 When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life."

The target of evangelism is households.

John 4:47-53 (NIV)

When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death. 48 "Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe." 49 The royal official said, "Sir, come down before my child dies." 50 Jesus replied, "You may go. Your son will live." The man took Jesus at his word and departed.

John 4:47-53 (NIV)

51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, "The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour." 53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." So he and all his household believed.

The gospel should touch the household.

Matthew 12:25 (NIV)

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.

For us not to target households is to invite division and the destruction of households.

Acts 16:13-15 (NIV)

On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. 14 One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message.

Acts 16:13-15 (NIV)

15 When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. "If you consider me a believer in the Lord," she said, "come and stay at my house." And she persuaded us.

Households are baptized.

Baptism is presented as a household matter.

Acts 18:8 (NIV)

Crispus, the synagogue ruler, and his entire household believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.

Household conversions seem to be the norm.

(Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.)

Household baptism seemed to be the norm.

You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. …

Households appear to have been the first churches.
