JOINING THE COMPANY OF BELIEVERS What will help you to believe? Today’s scripture readings tell of faith and doubt. They offer stories “recorded to help you believe,” as the passage from John’s Gospel (20:31) re-marks today. There is an urgency about this. On this Second Sunday of Easter we are challenged to join the company of believers—countless men and women who witnessed the power of the apostles’ faith. There is no doubt that this pow-er comes from Jesus Christ. The second reading, from the book of Revelation, reports John’s mystical vision of the Son of Man, who proclaims, “Once I was dead, but now I live” (Revelation 1:18). The Gospel gathers everyone but Thomas to see the Risen Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit from him. Like Thomas, we who have come along later must have faith so that we can have life. Copyright © J. LETTER FROM POPE FRANCIS THE “JOY OF THE GOSPEL” CONTINUED...

The Church’s Missionary Transformation—#127 Person to person Today, as the Church seeks to experience a profound missionary renewal, there is a kind of preaching which falls to each of us as a daily responsibility. It has to do with bringing the Gospel to the people we meet, whether they be our neighbours or complete strangers. This is the informal preaching which takes place in the middle of a conversation, something along the lines of what a missionary does when visit-ing a home. Being a disciple means being constantly ready to bring the love of Jesus to others, and this can happen unexpectedly and in any place: on the street, in a city square, during work, on a journey. Fr. Terry’s Remarks—The most natural thing for most of us is to share with others our favorite pas-sion, be it sport, as it is for many of us, or politics or cooking, or learning or nature, art, music. We have so many loves and passions; they are the Divine side of us. And just as God has so generously shared god-liness with us so we are driven to share our loves and passions with others. Easter reminds that the great-est of all our gifts is the belief that we are loved and redeemed by God. But not everyone believes this and just as you share your enthusiasm about baseball with all you meet, the Church today is begging eve-ryone of us to share our faith with those around us. We have in the past left that to the 'experts'. Every-one of us are living examples of faith. Just allow your natural self to share your love and faith in Jesus in the same way you share with people how wonder-ful the Warriors are especially Steph Curry. Doesn't it make your life more joyous to cheer a bouncing ball? How much more fulfilled will you be when you help others embrace their salvation.
