Pastor’s Page

Welcome Back!

Dear friends,

It will be wonderful to see many of you at Mass this weekend. Please read the guidelines

on the next page carefully. I want to apologize, in advance, for any inconvenience and

there will be some inconveniences, but I also want you to understand that we will be doing

the best we can. This is a difficult time for all of us and we need to work together.

Two weeks ago, we began outdoor Masses in our parking lot. Thanks to all of you who

were present and especially Ray McKnight, who was our D.J. and sound system. It was a

good experience. Not perfect, but good! Our parishioners were upbeat and happy to be

here. We were finally able to celebrate our faith together. These were baby steps, but

important steps.

This weekend we will take another step forward. Again, this is not the perfect scenario, but

it is a very important step. We will be together in our Church celebrating our faith. If all

goes well this week, next week we will be able to receive holy communion.

As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. You, our parishioners, helped build this

Church and parish. We are now asking for your patience as we reopen our parish, but it

will take some time. We ask you to please be a part of the solution and work with us. That

said, Bishop Barres wants us to be clear to you that, at this point in time, attending Mass is

not required but it is being offered. So, if healthy, please join us. If you can’t make it this

weekend, please come next week.

Be assured of my prayers and please continue to pray for our parish, our local community

and our great country.

Fr. Grieco

Church Reopens This Weekend

Corpus Christi (The Body and Blood of Christ)

25% capacity is allowed at all Masses.

Mass Schedule

Saturday: Vigil Mass at 5:00 PM

Sunday: 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM

Guidelines!!!

1) Face masks must be worn.

2) 25% capacity at every Mass.

3) Do not sit in pews that are roped off (this is very important).

4) Families may sit together. All non-family members must be 6 feet apart.

5) The restroom should only be used for emergencies!

6) Holy Communion will not be distributed until next week.

7) The Bishop is asking that we worship at our own parish and not travel to another parish.

8) We will keep the Church as clean as possible at all times. Please do not expect perfection because that will be impossible. This is about coming to Church for God.

9) The elderly or sick are kindly asked to stay home. Dispensation from obligation to attend Mass remains in effect until further notice.

10) THIS IS A DIFFICULT TIME FOR ALL OF US, SO WE KINDLY ASK FOR YOUR PATIENCE. WE ARE

IN UNCHARTED TERRITORY AND NEED YOUR HELP. IF THERE IS SOMETHING YOU DISAGREE

WITH, YOU MAY BE RIGHT, BUT WE ARE DOING OUR BEST. IF CORRECTION IS NEEDED, WE WILL

MAKE THE CORRECTION NEXT WEEK. LET’S MAKE THIS WORK TOGETHER. THANK YOU!!

Dear Family Mass Lectors, As with all things these days, there is change. While last week we thought we would continue to have mass in the parking lot, now beginning this week, we will be able to attend mass inside the church. Attached please find the Family Mass Lector Schedule for this coming weekend, June 14 through June 28, 2020. We assigned children based on the responses to our last email. In two weeks, we will create a new schedule for July 5 through the end of the summer. At that time, we will send an email to ask for more volunteers. If you are scheduled to lector, please be at the Church no later than 9:15 a.m. As Fr. Grieco announced last Sunday, capacity in church will be limited to 25%. Please let us know if you have any questions. As always, thank you for your service to Holy Spirit! We are blessed to have you as lectors at the 9:30 a.m. Family Mass! Love and Blessings,

Fran & Marie

Reflection

Sunday, June 14, 2020 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) - Solemnity (Lec. 167)

1) Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a 2) 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 3) John 6:51-58

FOCUS: Through the Eucharist, Jesus gives us the strength we need on our journey through life to heaven.

Today we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ and honor Jesus as the Bread of Life. Just as God led Moses and the Israelites out of Egypt and through 40 years of hardship and danger in the desert, so Jesus gives us the strength we need as we follow him through the spiritual dangers of this life.

LITURGY OF THE WORD In Deuteronomy, Moses reminds the people of how God brought them out of Egypt and through 40 years in the desert. Saint Paul writes of our unity as Christians, for we all partake of the one loaf. Jesus tells the Jewish crowds that he is living bread that came down from heaven, so that eternal life may be found through him.
