STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK / ADMINISTRACIÓN SEGÚN “EL LIBRO”
The blind man was willing to let Jesus minister to him and willingly did all Jesus asked of him. The Pharisees were more resistant to His message, spending their time and energy to disprove the miracle. Which am I more like, the man born blind or the Pharisees?

LENTEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Catholic Charities CYO is offering a variety of ways to strengthen our faith through acts of compassion during the six weeks of the Lenten Season through volunteer acts of kindness. For example, St. Joseph’s Family Center in San Francisco is looking for volunteers to cook brunch for families. We also need volunteers to help distribute food and prepare snacks for children at our 10th and Mission Support Service program.
For a full list of our Lenten volunteer opportunities, visit our website at www.cccyo.org/lent. Contact Jane Ferguson Flout at (415) 972-1227 or [email protected].
2014 ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
Update: This past weekend, we received Archbishop’s Annual Appeal gifts in the amount of $1,509.00. When added to previous donations, it gives us a total of $9,375.00. Pledge envelopes can be returned to the Church collection basket or the Parish Rectory. To help us reach this new goal amount, we will continue taking up a second collection every weekend.
When our parish reaches its goal of $23,400.00, all of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our Parish. Please prayerfully consider a gift to the 2014 AAA. We need everyone's help to reach our goal.
OLG Mission has a goal amount of $4,500.00. So far, we have received a total of $179.00.
LIGHT
“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light” (Ephesians 5:14). We are at the mid-point of our Lenten journey of conversion. As always, God never gives up on us, especially those who have “fallen asleep” along the road to conversion. The most powerful stories of conversion are proclaimed during these final weeks of Lent. They have the power to shake us out of our sleep. Today’s Gospel story of the healing of the man born blind exposes the real blindness in the time of Christ—the blindness of the self-righteous religious leaders. In a few weeks, at the Easter Vigil, the Church will proclaim “Christ our Light” as the paschal candle is carried into darkened churches throughout the world. May the dark-ness of sin that still pervades our lives, communities, and world, be dispelled by the Christ who comes to bring sight to the blind and light to the world.
