Respect Life Society Thank you from the unborn baby at 5 months – I am 5
months old now. I’m 12 inches long and I weigh about one pound. I’m really getting big and mommy can now feel me
kick and move around! Hey! Someday maybe I’ll play soccer! Keep praying for me.
Here is Bishop Sheen’s prayer:
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly
Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 8, 2018
“Three times I begged the Lord about this. That it might leave me, but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you. For power is made perfect in weakness.’ I would rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses…”
Are we not all plagued by difficulties and problems? Do we have the courage to turn to the Lord as Paul did especially in moments of crisis? The litany of his hardships, and those of most people far exceed the troubles which come my way. The source of Paul’s contentment is the remedy for our difficulties as well.
His grace, His life, His power is available to us, especially in time of need. I only need to turn and express my dependence upon Him, to face whatever comes my way, the good and the bad. Weakness is certainly
not the so called American way. Yet the secret is found in the Lord’s hidden presence if we but seek it and use it. May I repeat Paul’s mantra ‘I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.’ Paul did not give up
but asked three times. Do I persevere?

DRESS IN CHURCH
In the book of Ecclesiastes, it is written in the third chapter, “There is an appropriate time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens. A time to be silent and a
time to speak”. In other words, everything has an appropriate place. I would add a time to dress up and a time to dress down.
We come now into the summer season, the season of flip-flops, short shorts, tank tops and anything else that lets in the sun and cool breezes. The season also brings the dilemma of
what is appropriate dress. Are shorts appropriate at a wedding reception, or job interview? Is wearing a suit and tie to the beach called for? Do we wear a dress or pants with shoes to bed and pajamas to the supermarket? I ask you to consider what you wear to worship your Creator. Is he important enough to dress up for? Oh, yes it is true that
God loves us just the way we are. Saint Paul writes that because of his relationship with Jesus, he is free to do anything, but qualifies that freedom, with his obligation not to
offend or bring harm to others.
The question is, how much do we respect the love our Creator has for us: and are we willing to witness to others that respect, by our dress and behavior. There is a time for
everything!
