Have a Blessed Christmas and Congratulations – the Spiritual Adopted Baby you have been praying for since
March 25 will be born this week. The only change at birth is a change in the external life support system of the baby. Now she breathes and eats differently. She is truly a miracle. She began as a 46-
chromosome cell and has grown over the past nine months into this unique human baby. Thank you for your prayers - they saved her life. The baby will be born on the Feast of the Holy Innocents (Sat., Dec. 28). Life is truly a precious
gift from God. Catholic Guidance for End-of-Life Decision Making
(Part 4) DNR: A “do not resuscitate” order is signed by a physician and instructs health care providers not to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if a patient’s heartbeat or breathing stops. An adult patient, or their surrogate, must
consent to a DNR order. For Catholics, deciding about DNR involves weighing the burdens and benefits of CPR in
each specific situation, determining if it is ordinary or extraordinary treatment. Assisted Suicide: The voluntary termination of a person’s own life assisted by another, for
example, the ingestion of physician-prescribed medications that will cause death. It is the direct and intentional taking
of human life, and is always gravely immoral. Euthanasia: Sometimes called "mercy killing", euthanasia is the
deliberate and morally unacceptable killing of a human person and is always gravely immoral. (The Gospel of Life) An example of euthanasia would be the injection of a drug
that causes a patient to stop breathing, with the intention that they die in that manner.

The Advent season of hope and patient waiting has brought us the Glorious season of Christmas. A time for us to reflect on the great gift we have
received, the love of God in Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish
but have eternal life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” (St.
John 3:16-17). Jesus’ presence on this earth has lifted life to its highest stature. When the Lord became flesh, “and the Word was made flesh and
dwelt among us.” (St. John 1:14). He reminded us of the dignity, value, and worth of our lives and every created human life made in the image and
likeness of Almighty God. “God created mankind in His image, in the image of God He created them, male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27). Life is a precious gift that God has bestowed on us. Every life belongs to
Almighty God, because every life is created by God. Only the creator has the right to take back what He created. Every human life, no matter the
condition of that life, is precious in the sight of Almighty God. Walk with your heads lifted high for we are sons and daughters of Almighty God and brothers and sisters of Jesus the Christ and one another. Because of our baptism into Jesus Christ we are on a journey from this life to eternal life
in the kingdom of God. The local parish community is where we are nourished by the word of God and the precious Body and Blood of Christ. We are spiritually lifted up by the Lord and we in turn lift one another up
by our presence and our prayers.
May Almighty God Bless all of you and your loved ones.
