“For if by the transgression of the one, death came to reign through that one, how much more will those who receive the abundance grace and of the gift of justification, come to reign in life through the one Jesus Christ. In conclusion just as through one transgression condemnation came upon all. So through one righteous act acquittal and life came to all.” We begin the season of Lent, a time of prayer, fasting, sacrifice and good works. It is not just a time to shift gears and remember, but to allow the saving work of Jesus to take place in our hearts. Do I see the need for the abundant grace of Jesus in the world today? Am I able to move from what is around me needing salvation in Jesus, and see my own personal need for His saving, His amazing grace? I begin my Lenten journey in a serious way, asking that the next few weeks will find me caring for my soul, my spiritual life, the spiritual well being of others, my children. I ask forgiveness for what I have done and what I have failed to do.

How can I fit more prayer into my busy day?
“Pray constantly” sounds challenging but it doesn’t have to be. Actually, busy days offer many great opportunities for prayer if we know where to look. Consider these suggestions: Pray throughout the day. Consider praying the Rosary on the way to work, saying grace before lunch, offering a quick “I love you,” or praying for guidance for important decisions. Even job-related tasks can become “prayers in action.” Fifteen minutes a day. Good friends know text messages can’t replace being together. It’s the same with God. He loves us and wants our company. Aim for 10-15 minutes of daily prayer. Thank God for your blessings, meditate on Scripture, offer him your day, or simply enjoy his company. It’s the love that counts. For her love and humility, Jesus commended a poor but generous widow for her small donation (Mark 12:43-44). Sometimes, we have little time or energy for “good prayer.” Remember, what pleases God is not the elegance or number of our prayers, but the love with which we offer them.

Gesù viene presentato come il nuovo Adamo che, contrariamente al primo, resiste alla tentazione. Ma egli è anche il rappresentante del nuovo Israele che, contrariamente al popolo di Dio durante la traversata del deserto che durò quarant’anni, rimette radicalmente la sua vita nelle mani di Dio - mentre il popolo regolarmente rifiutava di essere condotto da Dio. In ognuno dei tre tentativi di seduzione, si tratta della fiducia in Dio. Si dice, nel Deuteronomio (Dt 6,4): “Ascolta, Israele: Il Signore è il nostro Dio, il Signore è uno solo. Tu amerai il Signore tuo Dio con tutto il cuore, con tutta l’anima e con tutte le forze”. Significa esigere che Dio sia il solo ad essere amato da Israele, il solo di cui fidarsi. Ciò significa anche rinunciare alla propria potenza, a “diventare come Dio” (Gen 3,5). A tre riprese, Satana tenta Gesù a servirsi del suo potere: della sua facoltà di fare miracoli (v. 3), della potenza della sua fede che pretenderebbe obbligare Dio (v. 6), della dominazione del mondo sottomettendosi a Satana e al suo governo di violenza (v. 9). Gesù resiste perché Dio è nel cuore della sua esistenza, perché egli vive grazie alla sua parola (v. 4), perché egli ha talmente fiducia in lui che non vuole attentare alla sua sovranità né alla sua libertà (v. 7), perché egli sa di essere impegnato esclusivamente a servirlo (v. 10).

“En efecto, si por la falta de uno solo reinó la muerte, con mucha más razón, vivirán y reinarán por medio de un solo hombre, Jesucristo, aquellos que han recibido abundantemente la gracia y el don de la justicia. Por consiguiente, así como la falta de uno solo causó la condenación de todos, también el acto de justicia de uno solo producirá para todos los hombres la justificación que conduce a la Vida.”
Empezamos la estación de cuaresma, un tiempo de oración, ayuno, sacrificio y obras de caridad. No es sólo un tiempo para cambiar de velocidades y recordar, sino de permitir que el trabajo salvador de Jesús se lleve a cabo en nuestros corazones.
¿Veo la necesidad de la abundante gracia de Jesús en el mundo de hoy? ¿Soy capaz de cambiar lo que me rodea por la necesidad de la salvación de Jesús, y puedo ver mi propia necesidad de Su salvación, Su maravillosa gracia?
Comienzo mi jornada de cuaresma con seriedad, la cual pide que mis próximas semanas me encuentren cuidando de mi alma, mi vida espiritual, el bienestar espiritual de otros, mis hijos. Pido perdón por lo que hecho, y por lo que he dejado de hacer.

Ha sido una tradición muy antigua de nuestra fe que sigamos los pasos de Cristo durante el
tiempo de la Cuaresma. Hagamos un esfuerzo para sufrir, morir y resucitar con Cristo durante
el tiempo penitencial de cuaresma.
