Divine Mercy SunDay is April 3RD
At 3pm that day, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed. The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be recited. Our Lord requested that we, in order to prepare for this Feast of His Mercy make a Novena in prepa-ration. This Novena should begin on Good Friday. You will find a Novena Booklet in the vestibule of the Church. Our Lord desires to pour out His mercy on each of us and upon the world. So please join people around the world who will be praying for the Feast of His Mercy.

March 25, 2016 Season of Lent Year of Mercy
Dear friends in the Lord,
On Good Friday, a collec on is taken up in all the parishes of he Catholic world for the support of the Church in the Holy Land.
Some mes, it is iden fied as a collec on that only supports the holy places. Actually, through the good works of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land and the Holy Father’s Congrega on for the Eastern Churches, support is given to all aspects of the life of the Church in that beleaguered part of the world. For example, the generous contribu ons to the Good Friday collec on help to sustain Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Holy Land and the Catholic University in Bethlehem.
The Good Friday collec on also helps to maintain the life of the local parishes, a network of clinics and healthcare facili es, and special projects for social development. The Chris ans of the Holy Land are now a small minority, and they are very much in need of our assistance and support these days. Please be as generous as you can.
With prayerful best wishes for a blessed Easter season, I am,
Faithfully in Christ,
Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan Archbishop of New York
FYI:
Update on St. Mary’s continued maintenance:
1) The entire left façade of the front steps of St. Mary’s church collapsed and have now been repaired. Much more needs to be done in the future to ensure both the safety and the beauty of St. Marys.
2) There was a large drainage problem at the school/rectory parking lot. Dredging was done and a new section of pipe had to be cut and at-tached. The drainage is now flowing properly!
The cost of these projects has come from our parish resources.
Thank you for all you do,
Fr. Duff
A HUGE Thank You to all the parishioners who contributed to St. Mary's annual Community Center Lenten Food Drive. With your help, we collected just over 2,500 pounds of food!! We are also so very grateful to all the volunteers who collected, delivered, weighed, and then stacked the food on the shelves at the Community Center. Countless families were helped because of your concern and generosity! We would also like to thank Shop Rite of Bedford Hills who graciously donated 300 paper shopping bags for this cause. Together, we can make a difference!
Thank you all again, and may God bless you for your kindness, Roanne and Janine.
So far, our parish has pledged $ 49,690 from 101 donors toward our parish goal of $ 105,000. The average gift is $ 491.98.

Tenebrae Services "Darkness/Shadows"
The prayers which make up the Tenebrae Services celebrated on Friday and Saturday in our parish, are taken from the Liturgy of the Hours, the daily prayer of the Church. The service consists of the Office of Readings and Morning Prayer from this Liturgy. While for centuries this form of prayer was understood to be the prayer of the clergy and religious, the Second Vatican council has made it clear that it belongs to all in the church.
Tenebrae is a Latin word meaning shadows or darkness, and is representative of the phrase in the Gospels, "darkness came over the whole land". It is dramatically marked by the extinguishing of can-dles one by one, from the candelabra that stands on the altar.
This gradual extinguishing of light has symbolic meaning associated with the solemn days of the Triduum (the three days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday). As the Church com-memorates the death of the Lord, the decreasing candlelight becomes a sign of the apparent triumph of evil and of the apparent failure of God's plan of salvation.
The psalms, lessons and prayers of Tenebrae form a contemplation of the events of Jesus' last days. Betrayal, judgment, death, these were the things that Jesus had to contend with in his final days. For us , the theme of Friday's Tenebrae is Jesus' judgment , crucifixion and death. On Saturday the focus moves to Christ's burial and the Christian hope of resurrection.
Then, at the Easter Vigil, we celebrate the victory of Christ over sin and evil. The light of the one Paschal Candle, the symbol of the Risen Christ, is passed from one to another in the darkness of night, and the growing light which shatters the dark signi-fies the triumph of good over evil and the spread of the reign of God. TENEBRAE WILL BE CELEBRATED AT ST. MARYS AT 9 AM ON GOOD FRIDAY AND HOLY SATURDAY. THERE ARE NO MORNING MASSES ON THURSDAY , FRI-DAY AND SATURDAY OF HOLY WEEK.
Easter Mailing If you did not receive an Easter mailing from St. Marys, please contact the rectory. It means you are not registered with our parish and we need your help in keeping our census up to date!

The world was a playground for Mickey, a naive Irish American kid bored with his life. His father served in World War II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam; now it was his turn. His 365 days in Vietnam builds in torment until an attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia. Wounded, his friend captured, he becomes a tormented survivor knowing he is always just a heartbeat from death.
In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks
on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.
