Prayers of Pope Pius X to Mary POPE PIUS X (1835-1914) (Pontiff 1903-1914)

O Most Holy Virgin, who pleased our Lord and became his mother, Virgin Immaculate in your body

and soul, in your body and soul, in your faith and love, at this solemn jubilee of the promulgation of the dogma which proclaimed you to the entire world as conceived without sin, look kindly on us unfortunate

ones who implore your powerful protection. The infernal serpent, upon whom the primeval curse was laid, continues, alas, to attack and tempt the hapless children of Eve. Ah! Do you, our blessed Mother, our

Queen and Advocate, who at the first moment of your conception did crush the enemy's head, do you gather together our prayers and we beseech you (our hearts

one with yours) present them before God's throne, that we may never allow ourselves to be caught in the snares laid for us, but that we may reach the portal of salvation, and that the Church and Christian society may once more chant the hymn of deliverance, of

victory and of peace. Amen. Composed for the fiftieth anniversary of the definition of the

Immaculate Conception, September 8, 1903

Youth Ministry - Grades 9 to 12

20th Sunday…Aug 16 2020…Mt. 15, 21-28 Mother’s instinct… Upon knowing that there is life inside your tummy, you begin to change your perspective in life most especially your identity… from being a woman to being a mother. Your identity is no longer independent reality that you wanted to be but rather it is an identity dependent to another life, your baby. Your identity is never defined according to your personal desires but now according to another’s desires. In fact even your personal plans in life, your dreams…they change because of your baby. Now you become inclusive in your plans and in your dreams in life...another life is included. You are no longer reckless in your actions but very considerate because you want to set an example to your child. You begin to put into reality the term sacrifice. It is your birthday and you wanted to buy new dress but you say to yourself, ‘I would not buy new dress because I would rather set aside this amount for the future of my child.’ The meaning of life has shifted… without the significant other, your baby, you find life meaningless. In the gospel reading, a mother is crying out for an assistance from our dear Lord because her daughter is tormented by a demon. This mother is really decided to get the attention of Jesus Christ even to the point of humiliation. That’s the mother’s instinct…no matter what, a mother is willing to face anything for as long as she gets what her significant other (her child) deserves. In our gospel despite humiliation, she was never shattered in her appeal until she finally got the favorable response from our dear Lord…for her as a mother (O woman, great is your faith) and for her significant other (and the woman’s daughter was healed from that hour).
