Spending quiet time…

Every Wednesday, immediately following the 7:30a.m. Mass in the Chapel, the

Blessed Sacrament will be exposed until Benediction at 7:00 p.m. Why not take a few moments each Wednesday to spend

quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sac-rament.

Hospice is a philosophy of care, not a location. Our focus is on goals of care expressed by the patient, and management of symptoms to maximize comfort and allow for patient goals to be realized. The hospice plan of care is designed to assure an end of life expe-rience that is dignified, comfortable, addresses spiritual concerns, and includes family members. Hospice care does not hasten death, rather, it celebrates life. Good Shepherd Hospice, as part of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, is coming to Mercy Medical Center. We are proud to share that a new hospice inpatient unit will open in the Summer of 2018, which will be the only Catholic hospice unit in Nassau County. We, at Good Shepherd Hospice are excited to continue our mission to provide compassionate, com-prehensive and family-focused care to all our patients and families across Long Island. Call 631-465-6350 or visit: Goodshepherdhospice.chsli.org/ to learn more.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION January 7, 2018

The Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord

TODAY, Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the 10:00am Family Mass we will celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany with the 1st & 2nd Level students who are invited to dress as Kings & Queens. A reception will follow our Mass in the Social Room hosted by the Catholic Daughters. We thank them for their welcoming hospitality and service to our parish community ~ it is greatly appreciated!

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the visit of the Three wise Men to the Christ Child in the manger. This visit signifies God’s invitation to the salvation he offers to each of us. These Three Kings were among the wisest men of their time. When it became know th them that the Messiah was about to be born, they orga-nized an expedition to find him. As their story tells us, they followed a star that led them to Bethlehem. Although their culture and religion were not the same, they ac-cepted Jesus as their Savior. Their gifts symbolize Christ’s identity and mission. Cas-par offered frankincense for God, Melchior brought gold for a king, and Balthasar brought myrrh used to anoint the dead.

“We saw His star in the East and have come to worship Him” Matthew 2:2

Faith – Family – Parish - Charity - Unity.

We believe that a man is more than simply a man, when he bears the title of “Knight.”

That he is defined by his actions as a follower of God and as a leader in his community.

That he is thought of, and relied upon, as a spiritual leader by his family and in his parish.

Listen to your call to be part of a surging Catholic man’s spiritual movement. The call of the Knights is your call.

Put Your Faith in Action.
