1) Gossip in the Old Testament• Proverbs 11:13 A talebearer revealeth

The Causes of Gossip:1) Hatred

• Proverbs 18:8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

• II Timothy 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good

• Matthew 27:18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him

The Causes of Gossip:4) Genuine concern

• Proverbs 11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter

another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

• Proverbs 20:18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war

• Ask yourself these questions:1) Is it true?2) Is it needful that I tell it?3) Is it kind?

• If the answer to any of these questions is “No,” DO NOT TELL IT
