Welcome of Worshipers

Choral Worship “A Song of Peace” FINLANDIA Jean Sibelius, arr. Johnnie Carl, ed. Don Neuen

This is my song, O God of all the nations,A song of peace for lands afar and mine;

This is my home, the country where my heart is,This is my hope, my hope, my dream, my shrine;

But other hearts in other lands are beating With hopes and dreams the same as yours and mine.

My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean,And sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine.

But other lands have sunlight, too, and clover, And skies are sometimes, sometimes blue as mine.

O hear my song, O God of all the nations,A song of peace for their land and mine.

May truth and freedom come to every nation,May peace abound where strife has raged so long.

That all may seek to love and build togetherA world united righting every wrong,A world united in its love of freedom,

Proclaiming peace together in one song!This is my song, O God, Amen!

– Lloyd Stone and Georgia Harkness

Call to Prayer “Come and Fill Our Hearts” Jacques Berthier

Pastoral Prayer

*Hymn of Illumination 155 BROTHER JAMES’ AIR “God Is My Shepherd”

Call to Confession

We are broken vessels that hold no water, yet God is gracious to us. Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sin.

Prayer of Confession

Sovereign God, we come to you in confession. We have not turned away from sin. We seek our own self-interest instead of serving others. We glorify power and wealth instead of worshipping you. Forgive us, God of grace. Teach us to treasure your gifts and to seek the good of all, so that we may be a blessing; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness

As a potter holds a piece of clay, God holds and shapes our lives. In the name of Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

Thanks be to God.
