Welcome to Celebration It is so good to have you here! Sunday, August 28, 2016 Guests, welcome to Celebration! We are here to welcome people home to God. If you don’t have a church to call “home,” we hope you will consider us! Some items to note: •We have a guilt-free offering...guests worship free! • Please be sure to stop by our Welcome Center and pick up our monthly newsletter with info on our church & ministries. •Where do the kids go??? See the following page for all the details. Prayer Requests: Email prayer requests to [email protected] Thanks for your prayers for Pastor Steve’s mom, Angela Garcia. She came through the surgery but has weeks of rehab ahead. Your continued prayers are appreciated. This Morning…When the calendar approaches September, we scurry to get back-to-school. The bell rings and our kids rush to get in line and march. All year long, there is no shortage of people ready to tell us where we need to be and what we ought to do. This is modern life and in many ways, the responsible thing to do; a genuine form of faithfulness. But society’s clock and calendar can only tell us so much. If we allow other people to drive our priorities, we may miss the still, small voice that tells us who we really are and what we’re actually here to do. You'll need to follow your heart to heed the call to what matters most. Today, we will revisit the story of a woman who marched to a different drum, who listened to a different voice, and who did what her heart told her to do, whatever the cost. She was criticized for it. But she was moved by what God had done for her, not what people said about her. How about you? Steve’s sermon is called, "Approaching God With Backbone & Heart: The Worship God Wants, Part 2.” Snacks: A big, yummy thank you to this morning’s snack hosts! Guests, welcome to Celebration! We are here to welcome people home to God. If you don’t have a church to call “home,” we hope you will consider us! Some items to note:

•We have a guilt-free offering...guests worship free!

Steve’s sermon is called, "Approaching God With Backbone & Heart: The Worship God Wants, Part 2.”

Snacks: A big, yummy thank you to this morning’s snack hosts!

Labor Day Weekend Potluck on Sunday, September 4—Plan to join us for a POTLUCK PICNIC, with THE CHURCH providing the main dish and EVERYONE ELSE bringing side dishes, salads & desserts. Please bring a dish to share according to your last name: A-G: DESSERT - baked goodies, fresh fruit, cold treats… H-P: FAVORITE SIDES - baked beans, potato salad, mac & cheese… Q-Z: SALAD - veggie, pasta, fruit, quinoa, edamame… We could certainly use help with set-up and clean-up. Time commitment is about 45 minutes for either task. Please contact Vanessa Zimmermann at 720-939-6252 or [email protected] if you can help.

Fall Kickoff Ministry Fair—On Sunday, September 11, after each service, folks from our various ministry and small groups will be on hand in the “cove” (between the chapel and hall) with information and opportunities to sign up. You’ll have an opportunity to see all the amazing things that are going on around Celebration, meet our ministry leaders, get connected, and find a place to serve and people to share life within a small group. Please contact Wes Scheu if you have questions, [email protected].

Doing Some Back to School Shopping? Remember to Support Celebration when you Do!—The Amazon Smile program contributes a small portion of your purchase to Celebration at no additional cost to you. It’s an easy way to help us out a bit financially without costing you anything. Use this link to get started: http://smile.amazon.com/ch/84-1487692.

It’s a passionate philosophical novel set in 19th century Russia, that enters deeply into the ethical debates of God, free will, and morality. We’ll meet to discuss it on Monday, September 19, 7-8:30 pm, at Bev Melnychenko’s. Contact Bev at 303-552-7935or [email protected] to RSVP and to get her address.

Foster Care Informational Night—There will be a Foster Care Informational Night on Sunday, September 25, 4-6 pm, hosted by Jonathan & Jazmin Alfonseca and their small group at 1500 West Thomas Ave, Englewood. Greg & Jennifer Isaac will be sharing their experiences and answering questions. This meeting is for those who feel ready to take the next step and for those who are just mildly curious. Please RSVP to [email protected] by September 18. Dinner will be provided - please bring a side and/or dessert to share. There will not be childcare available - please make other arrangements for your children.
