The partnership:

March 2012 - The Bonnie family, owner of Château Malartic-Lagravière, has decided to join famed

watchmaker Audemars Piguet to celebrate the 40th

anniversary of their iconic watch: The Royal Oak. For the

occasion, they will embark on a worldwide journey, covering 6 unique destinations: New York in March, Milan

in April, Paris in June, Shangai in late August, Singapore in October and Dubaï in December. In each city, they

will showcase a roaming exhibition created specially for the anniversary and a dinner series featuring

Malartic-Lagravière’s Pessac-Leognan as the exclusive wines. The ethics of excellence that binds these two

legendary brands make the partnership natural: both have centuries of experience, a sense of place and

timeless features.

Bought by the Count of Malartic in 1803, the Malartic-Lagravière estate is one of the only six Grands Crus Classés

de Graves in Bordeaux to produce red and white wines. It is a place of ancestral know-how, family tradition and

groundbreaking innovation. From the eponymous Comte to the Bonnie family – proud owners of the estate for the last

15 years – the wines of Malartic-Lagravière have always been created with the greatest, uncompromising attention to

details and quality in order to deliver Pessac-Léognan wines worthy of their name and legacy. In recent times, Château

Malartic-Lagravière has been shaped by the vision of the Bonnie Family who understood that in order to obtain the best

possible wines, instilling quality at every level of production is paramount. In 1997, the Bonnies went through a major

overhaul of their cellar to ensure that transportation and process was respectful of the grapes from the vineyard to

barrels. Today, the state-of-the-art facilities at Malartic-Lagravière are amongst the best in Bordeaux with a 100% gravity

system, avoiding the use of pumps and pipes, and allowing for a respectful transportation of the grapes that does justice

to the wine’s extraordinary complexity. The result is a harvest that is carefully handled from the sorting table to the vats.

In 1875, Audemars Piguet was created in the Vallée de Joux, in the Swiss Jura and today, it is the last fine

watchmaker still in the hands of the founding families. Just as Malartic-Lagravière acknowledges that nothing outstanding

can be achieved without a terroir that stands out, the birth place of Audemars Piguet was equally important in shaping

the personality of its watches. The serene valley provided the inspiration that gave birth to the most complex watch

mechanism. In 1972, Audemars Piguet’s thirst for breakthroughs manifested again with its greatest innovation yet, one

that changed watch making forever, with the creation of the first Royal Oak. The “40 Years Exhibition,” designed by

Sebastien Leon Agneessens will pay tribute to the land that made it possible for such mastery to materialize and to the

heritage bestowed by the mother of all luxury sports watch. Recognizable by its unique defining features – the octogonal

bezel fixed with the hexagonal screws, one of the thinnest self-winding movements, the seamlessly integrated to the case

bracelet and the tapisserie pattern on the dial - this exceptional watch stays true to the tradition of excellence that

originally drove the conception of this timepiece, while still providing industry-defining quality and know-how in the 21st

century.

Excellence, mastery, artistry, tradition and breakthroughs... These antagonistic, yet complementary words

describe the values shared by the Bonnie family of the legendary Bordeaux estate Malartic-Lagravière, and the ancestral

watchmaker families Audemars and Piguet.
