Welcome to our Drive Thru Christmas Service of Carols and Communion!

This guide is provided to help you prepare your heart and mind to receive our Lord in Holy Communion. Enjoy

and sing along to the Christmas music provided by our music ministers. Listen to the scriptures proclaimed, or

read your favorite Christmas scripture story. Offer prayers for those who are in need, which in this difficult

year are many. Pray the Lord’s Prayer and receive the Sacred Body of our Lord, who is born for us this day!

Scripture

We invite you to spend a few moments reflecting on the prophecy of Isaiah and the story of Jesus’ birth.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;

upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone.

For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests.

They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.

(Isaiah 9: 1, 4)

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This

was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his

own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David

that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his

betrothed, who was with child.

While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son.

She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in

the inn. (Luke 2:1-7)

El pueblo que caminaba en tinieblas vio una gran luz;

Porque un niño nos ha nacido, un hijo se nos ha dado;

(Lucas 2:1-7)

Intercessions

We invite you to pray...

• For all members of the Church, the Body of Christ…

• For peace in our world, our nation, our community…

• For our parish community…

• For all who suffer from illness and disease, especially

those impacted by the COVID pandemic …

• For those who have died, and for those who mourn…

• For your personal intentions and needs…

Our Father

Our trust is in God, knowing that God hears our prayers and provides our every need. As you prepare to

receive our Savior in Holy Communion, we invite you to pray the Lord’s Prayer.

Holy Communion

When you reach the ministers of Communion we invite you to, if you are able, get out of your vehicle. Be

sure to leave your mask on. The minister will recite the invitation to Communion, and we ask you to make

the response:

Minister: Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world.

Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

Response: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,

but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

The minister will share with you the Body of Christ, to which you respond Amen. Please step away from

the minister to remove your mask and consume the host. After receiving Communion you may get back

in your vehicle and drive around to the exit to receive a Christmas Blessing from Fr. Andy.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving after Receiving Holy Communion

O Lord, our God,

we thank you for the nourishment you give us

through your holy gift of the Eucharist.

Grant that by our participation

in the feast of our Redeemer’s Nativity

we may come to know the depths of this mystery,

and to love you more and more.

Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Padrenuestro

Blessing of a Christmas Tree All make the Sign of the Cross, saying: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. One of those present reads a short selection from sacred scripture: The glory of Lebanon shall come to you— the juniper, the fir, and the cypress all together— To bring beauty to my sanctuary, and glory to the place where I stand. (Isaiah 60:13) The leader says the blessing prayer with hands joined: Lord our God, we praise you for the light of creation: the sun, the moon, and the stars of the night. We praise you for the light of Israel: the Law, the prophets, and the wisdom of the Scriptures. We praise you for Jesus Christ, your Son: he is Emmanuel, God-with-us, the Prince of Peace, who fills us with the wonder of your love. Lord God, let your blessing come upon us as we light this tree. May the light and cheer it gives be a sign of the joy that fills our hearts. May all who delight in this tree come to the knowledge and joy of salvation. We ask this through Christ our Lord. R/. Amen. The lights of the tree are then illuminated. The leader concludes the rite saying: May the God of glory fill our hearts with peace and joy, now and forever. R/. Amen. All may sing a verse of a familiar Christmas carol, such as O Come, All Ye Faithful, or Angels We Have Heard on High to conclude the blessing.

All liturgies will be live-streamed on our parish website

and social media pages.
