Christmas &

New Year’s Eve Customs ΛΑΜΠΡΙΑΝΝΑ ΚΑΡΑΒΟΥΣΑΝΟΥ

ΤΑΞΗ: Γ΄ 2

ΣΧΟΛΙΚΟ ΕΤΟΣ: 2014-2015

There are many Christmas and New Year’s Eve customs! Let’s see some of them!

Scotland

Some people just want to get wasted on New Year's Eve — the Scots want to bring presents to their friends and neighbors. If you are "the first

foot" to enter a person's house, you have to come bearing gifts, which are usually small

tokens, such as bread and whiskey. Bonfires and large fireballs are also common traditions.

According to the Scottish legend, it is a bad sign to let the fire go out on Christmas Eve, as a good,

roaring fire will keep goblins away. Also the Scottish particularly prefer the “Black Buni”

otherwise Twelfth Night cake, a heavy cake full of fruits, almonds, spices, accompanied with whiskey.

USA

With kisses greet the Americans the new year as in this way they feel that the new year will be much better! They believe that kissing their partner or even a stranger next to them will

help them get rid of bad memories and bad luck and will mark a new beginning full of love and

intense life.

South America

In South American countries such as Mexico, Bolivia and Brazil, your good luck for the year

ahead is decided by your underpants. Those who want to find love wear red underwear for New Year, whilst gold diggers should opt for yellow,

which brings wealth and luck. If you’re just after a bit of peace for the New Year, some white pants

should do the trick nicely.

THE END!HOPE YOU LIKE IT!
