Dear Parishioners,
Advent is half over already and now we are really looking forward to Christmas. Advent is often spoken of as a time of waiting, and
waiting can imply impatience and tension; certainly for little children, writing out their list for Santa and then waiting to see what
they receive can be almost more than they can bear! There is a rise in tension, too, in our world today as we wait to see what
atrocity will be carried out next by misguided individuals or radical groups. Waiting can be uncomfortable and unsettling if we are
unsure of what is coming and how it might affect us. But what we are waiting for is sure; it is the fulfilment of God’s promise to us
and it is a promise in which we can trust completely. St. Paul reminds us in the second reading today: “the Lord is very near. There is
no need to worry” The peace of God, “ is so much greater than we can understand” . It is the gift He brings. –Fr. Sunny

FOR ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS
The response this Advent has been
fantastic - 6000 fliers already delivered
with two weeks still to go. Let’s see if we can get another
couple of thousand out there and cover as many of our
parish homes as we can. Who knows where a simple
invitation may lead ? It is a great way to carry out our
mission as Christians to share the good news. Even the
children can get involved during the family walk.
Remember to mark off the streets you will deliver to.
Please do not deliver to streets outside our parish
boundaries.

ACTIVE WAITING
How do we wait for God? We wait with patience. But patience does not mean passivity. Waiting patiently is not like
waiting for the bus to come, the rain to stop or the sun to rise. It is an active waiting in which we live the present moment
to the full in order to find there the signs of the One we are waiting for.
The word patience comes from the Latin verb patior, which means “to suffer”. Waiting patiently is suffering through the
present moment, tasting it to the full and letting the seeds that are sown in the ground on which we stand grow into strong plants.
Waiting patiently always means paying attention to what is happening right before our eyes and seeing there the first rays of God’s
glorious coming.—Henri Nouwen
“Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.” - Ps. 25:5
