Luke 2: 4-5 “And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.”

Luke 2:8-10 “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”

“The spirit of giving gifts has been present in the mind of each Christian as he or she commemorates the Christmas season. Our Heavenly Father gave to us His Son, Jesus Christ. That precious Son gave to us His life, the Atonement, and victory over the grave. What will you and I give for Christmas this year? Let us in our lives give to our Lord and Savior the gift of gratitude by living His teachings and following in His footsteps. It was said of Him that He 'went about doing good.' As we do likewise, the Christmas spirit will be ours." Thomas S. Monson, "What Is Christmas?" Ensign, Dec. 1998, 5

There was no room for them in the inn, however… there should always be room in our hearts for the Savior of the world!

The humble cradle for baby Jesus.

“He whose birth we commemorate this season is more than the symbol of a holiday. He is the Son of God, the Creator of the earth, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, the fulfillment of the Law of Moses, the Redeemer of mankind, the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace. . . . 'And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!” Gordon B.Hinkley What Shall I Do Then with Jesus Which Is Called Christ?," Ensign, Dec. 1983, 5

3 Nephi 9: 15 “Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name.” We celebrate the birth of the Savior at Christmas, but we know He lived before He came to earth!

2 Nephi 31:21 “there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God”

Thou shalt call his name

JESUS…

Isaiah wrote 9: 6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

(SING)Jesus once was a little child, a little child like me! And He was pure, and meek and mild, as a little child should be. So little children, let’s you and I, try… try to be like Him. Try, try, try!

(SING) Said Samuel, within 5 years, the night shall be as day… and baby Jesus will be born in a land far, far away. Hosanna! Hosanna! Oh let us gladly sing, for unto us the Lord is born… let earth receive her King!

Elder Russell M. Nelson, “We commemorate the humble birth of the Savior at this time of year even though we know it did not occur in December. More likely, the Lord was born in April. Both scriptural and historical evidence suggest a time in the spring of the year, near the Jewish Passover (see D&C 20:1)” (Ensign Dec. 2011)
