Nursery Care is available in Room 204 in the Education Building.An area labeled "Kids Zone" in the narthex is open to all parents with small children during tonight’s worship. You may sit or play with your children and still hear the service. A changing station is provided in the restroom in the hallway just west of the Fireside Room. Please see one of the ushers if you need assistance.

Welcome! We count it a privilege and a blessing to worship with you on this joyous Christmas Eve and invite you to join us for the Candlelight Service this evening at 11 p.m. If you come as a guest, we hope you will leave as a friend.

The Sunday worship service is at 10 a.m. with a nursery for babies and toddlers, and Sunday School classes for 3 year olds through middle school. The youth program is Sunday evenings from 6:15 - 8:30 p.m.

First UMC takes the care and safety of children very seriously. We are a Safe Sanctuary congregation.

We express our appreciation to Mike Eskridge and the Seasonal Displays Committee for the special floral arrangements and greens that beautify the Sanctuary. If you dedicated poinsettias, you may take them home after the Candlelight service tonight.

January Book Study with Rev. Patricia FarrisJoin in a lively discussion of January's book Laying Down the Sword: Why We Can’t Ignore the Bible’s Violent Verses, by Philip Jenkins. Religion scholar Philip Jenkins challenges our assumptions about violent texts in the Bible and in the Qur’an. What do we make of passages we’d much rather ignore or forget? How do we understand “religious violence?” And most importantly, how do we get past our assumptions that we’ve got it right and those other angry people are all wrong? Sunday January 26: 11 a.m., in the Fireside Room.

Haiti Mission Trip 2014This January 22-February 1 a team of 5 adults are going to help the people of Haiti. Photos from the Haiti work teams are on exhibit in the Fireside Room and are available for purchase, with 100% of the money going to support the 2014 work team. This Sunday a silent auction opens for the remaining photos; the auction will close Epiphany Sunday, January 5.

Men’s Bible Study & BreakfastRev. Robert English leads the Men’s Bible Study group each Tuesday at 7 a.m. in the Fireside Room. All men in the church are welcome to this one-hour gathering which includes a simple breakfast, personal conversation, brief study of Bible passages and shared prayer.

Ongoing for Children, Youth & Adults Sunday school classes and Music Groups are offered for all ages. The Children’s Ministry provides family programming and events throughout the year. The active United Methodist Youth Fellowship gathers almost every Sunday night throughout the year with the aim of developing thoughtful disciples of Christ and nurturing relationships. Open Table and Cross(+)Brew are young adult groups that meet weekly, bi-monthly, and on other occasions for discussion, fellowship, service projects and special events. Long-standing adult groups such as Shareringers and the Partnership with God class offer meaningful study, fellowship and special events throughout the year. Family Connection is exactly what it sounds like, and the United Methodist Women work long and hard to raise funds for mission all year long. Please contact the church office and speak with one of First UMC's pastors if you would like information about baptism or church membership. First UMC's ministerial team also offers pastoral care.
