ect is scheduled forSunday, Dec. 5, whenmore than 100 childrenreferred by local schoolswill meet at Bracker’sDepartment Store andJCPenney onMorleyAvenue at 7 a.m. to beoutfitted with newshoes and clothing.They will then go enjoybreakfast atMcDon-ald’s, courtesy of theRichards family.Not only will the

children receive Christ-mas toys courtesy of theNI andLions,Mariaand Anthony Sedgwick,alongwith local pro-duce businesses willprovide 100 holidayfood baskets for eachchild’s family.Proceeds from all ad-

vertisement in theNI’sannual Christmas Col-oring BookContestwere used to purchasetoys for the boys andgirls. In addition, em-ployees of the newspa-per joined Lions at aweekend toy drive atWal-Mart.The Santa CruzHu-

mane Society alsopitched in this year witha refrigerator box halffull of brand-newstuffed animals to giveaway.“This year,Maria

Sedgwick unexpectedlycame to our rescue withdelicious grass-fed beef

and her tremendous en-ergy to assemble a smallarmy to prepare thefood baskets,” saidNIPublisherManuel C.Coppola. “The produceindustry, and FoodCitycame through to helpcontribute the greensand starches that willcomplement the beåef.The children and theirfamilies are the winnersin this collaboration.”Lions President

David Ramirez said thatthe food baskets are awelcome addition to theproject. He explainedthat since only onemember of a family canbe selected to partici-pate in the project,“we’ve seenwheresome of the children eatonly part of the break-fast fromMcDonald’sand save the rest toshare with a sibling.”

Children ages 4 to 10 are eligibleto enter the NogalesInternational/Bulletin Coloring BookContest.

Prizes will be awarded to the bestcompletely colored books. Prizes willbe gift certificates.

Books may be colored withcolored pencils, colored pens orwatercolors. An entry form isincluded in each book. Additionalcoloring books will be available at theNogales International and TheWeekly Bulletin.

Completed coloring booksmust be received at the NogalesInternational no later than 12p.m. December 21, 2009.

Photographs of the winnersalong with a page from theirbook will be published in bothpapers.

Children of employees of theNogales International and TheWeekly Bulletin are not elegibleto enter the contest.
