Christmas Around the World in Kindergarten

Our kindergarten classes spent a day in December changing classrooms to learn what Christmas is like in other parts of the world! Ms. Birk taught students about Kwanza in the USA. They learned that it is a 7 day celebration of the harvest and families celebrate by having a large meal, exchange gifts, sing and dance. Mrs. Edwards taught about

Christmas in Mexico. Students learned a few Spanish words and a dance. Mrs. Hasler taught about Sweden and how children celebrate St. Lucia Day. Students learned that the oldest girl in the family wakes up and serves her family coffee and sweet bread. Mrs. Ortega taught about Christmas in Russia. The season is called Sviatki and students

learned about Grandfather Frost who brings presents to the children each year on Jan. 7. Mrs. Tyler taught students about Hanukkah. They made a menorah and read a book about lighting a candle each day. They also learned about traditional Jewish games and Mrs. Tyler even make Latkes for them! Donation from YMCA

The Ozark Mountain Family YMCA made a donation of hats, gloves, and socks for our Early Childhood Center students! We will give these to students as they are needed. Thank you so much for your donation! We appreciate you! Pictured: Mark Waugh (left), ECC Principal,

Donation Station Giving Tree

The Early Childhood Center took donations of hygiene items for the Donation Station, which is managed by our Star School students. These items are available to families in our district that need help. Students from

each class will be chosen to help take these items to the Star School and put them on the shelves. Thank you to all those that donated! Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
