From Cairo and Damascus to Tehran and Beijing, religious freedom is undersiege. Ironically, it is Christianitya faith that contributed decisively to the riseof religious libertythat now finds itself increasingly persecuted around theworld.

In view of this global crisis, Georgetown Universitys Religious Freedom Projectwill host a two-day conference in Rome highlighting Christianitys contributionsto the understanding and practice of freedom for all people. The conference willpresent findings from a two-year study by dozens of scholars concerningChristianitys contributions to freedom. This event is co-sponsored by BaylorUniversitys Institute for Studies of Religion and is made possible by a generousgrant from the Historical Society's Religion and Innovation in Human AffairsProgram.
