Pastor Dave’s Monthly Message
Worship
“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen
His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:2 The dictionary defines worship as a verb: to honor or reverence as a divine being or supernatural power; to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion. And as a noun: reverence offered a divine being or supernatural power; an act of expressing such reverence; a form of religious practice with its creed and ritual; extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem. What does the Bible say about worship? The Bible speaks of worship 198 times, both how to and how/what not to. In John 4:23-24 Jesus said: “ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” This is referring to the verb sense of worship. To worship in Spirit is with our heart. Deuteronomy 6:5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ They are both saying this is personal, it is individual. That we are to worship God with our whole being and is confirmed by the Apostle Paul. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. To worship in truth is with our mind. We are transformed when we renew our minds with the truth of God’s word. True worship is God centered worship. It is our personal acknowledgement of God, and of God’s power and glory in everything that we do. God’s word is the truth, the word became flesh and walked among us, and Jesus said ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’. We are to know the truth, believe the truth, and love the truth. The highest form of praise and worship is obedience to God and God’s word. True worship is an expression of gratitude and appreciation to God for what God has done for us. A worship service (the noun), when we gather together, is made up of traditions, readings, music, singing, prayers, messages and offerings which are all good, and the Bible tells us that we should do them. When we do them we are to be active, be in the verb sense of worship. We are to be there in spirit and truth. Putting our whole being, especially our heart and mind into it. Acts 17:24-25: God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. It is important that we gather together often, to grow spiritually and in knowledge of the truth. Worshiping together is an emotional experience that is very beneficial. We are able to comfort and encourage each other on our pilgrimage through this life. We must remember though, that just being present and doing our duty is not true worship. True worship is personal, it is individual, and it is being all in. We find it easy to be appreciative and be grateful whenever someone does something for us. Let’s see if this new year we can do the same for God every day, in every place, and at all times.
In God We Trust / ♥ and Prayers, Pastor Dave

C.C.C. of Faith – Women of Faith News
Submitted by Kelsey Radliff
The Women of Faith held our annual Christmas gathering on Monday December 17th. We enjoyed a delicious potluck dinner and time spent with friends. This Christmas we were able to provide gifts to a deserving family, thank you to everyone who made monetary donations so that we were able to purchase items from this family's wish list. We hope they have a blessed Christmas morning. Also on December 9th, we visited Stoneview Heights. Rebecca Radliff shared her musical talent with us all as we sang Christmas carols and hymns. We also enjoyed treats and an hour of fellowship. We look forward to a return trip! If you have any questions or would like additional information about the women’s group, please feel free to contact Nancy Kniskern, Women of Faith Chairperson at 518-234-2370. Our next meeting will be held on January 21st, 2019 at 7pm at the Christian Community Church of Faith Fellowship hall. We would love to have you join

Supporting our Local Food Pantries
Acts 20:35 “It is more blessed to give then to receive”
Please remember that we are continuing to collect food monthly for the various food pantries in the local area. There are many people who are homeless and desperate for food in our county.
Any items you can provide are greatly appreciated, especially canned fruits, canned vegetables, and microwavable prepared meals. Please bring your items to church on the first Sunday of every month.
Thank you for your continued support – we are making a difference!
We're so grateful...
for your thoughtfulness,
your kindness and your
generous hearts.
Thank you to everyone who helped make
Christmas special for our adopted family this year.
