Out of the seven boxes that were packed by the 1st grade Sunday School families, I have heard where three of the boxes are heading. I would like to give you an update:

On Christmas Eve, I received three e-mails indicating where three of our Operation Christmas Child boxes have gone. One of the boxes is on its way

to Nambia. Nambia is located in southern Africa. It is a country of 2.2 million people and 31% of the country is 14 years old or younger! This box is one of 80,880 boxes that will be sent to children in Nambia.

Another of our boxes is on its way to the Philippines. This box will be received by one of the 687,480 children who will receive an OCC box in the Philippines this

year. Praise God that over 3,770,437 children have received a shoebox since 1998 when Operation Christmas Child began distributing to the Philippines. The Philippines has 100.9 million people and is located in southeast Asia. Thirty-four

percent of the population is 14 years old or younger! The third of our boxes that is already on its way is going to a "hard-to-reach" or

"restricted" area of our world. For the safety of those ministering in these restricted areas, Operation Christmas Child cannot tell us the name of the country where it is being sent. Many children who live in nations that are difficult to reach with the Gospel are able to hear about Jesus Christ through specially packed

shoebox gifts designated for restricted areas. In hard-to-reach areas, these shoeboxes provide a platform for local believers to share Christ in a safe and culturally sensitive way, and allow ease of entry through customs.

Please continue praying for the transportation of these boxes and for the children that will receive these and all the other boxes!

If you have received a notice that your box has been sent to a different country, please let me know so that I can pass on some updated news! Thank you for participating in this year-round endeavor to reach children

with gifts and with the message of Jesus Christ! Love,

Tammie Lindblom

Prevention Time Year-end Results for 2015 We would like to thank Highline for your generous support of the Reach4Life program in South Africa

through your missions offering, clothing drive donations, and attendance at events! Here are our

2015 results: ·15,000 - Reach4Life Bibles purchased

·14,082 - students used R4L in schools ·11,332 - students

participated in R4L assemblies ·900+ - inmates used R4L in

prisons ·4,854 young people committed to Christ

·8,632 young people committed to abstinence

This year, we will begin working in Cape Town and Swaziland. With 39 Peer Educators and 44 churches,

our goal is to be in 93 schools, 9 prisons, and numerous church and community groups, reaching an

estimated 25,500 young people. Our focus is on trying to reach kids before they get infected

with HIV, but we also embrace those who are already infected, encouraging them to live their lives

for Him. (See Bheki's testimony, from last week's training session):

Bheki - As a young boy growing up in the township, I got involved in all kinds

of crimes, drugs and alcohol. With no guidance from anyone, raised in the

broken home, I ended up in jail. I thought my life had ended when I was given a

very harsh sentence. In prison I gave my life to the Lord and as I read my

Bible every day, I knew that I wanted to tell other inmates about the gospel

of Jesus Christ. I learned about the R4L Ministry and when I was released from jail a year ago I got

in contact with the R4L team and today I was trained as a Peer Educator. I’m looking forward to

going back to prison and telling all my brothers in there about the God who forgives and saves.

Unfortunately my gang star life included having many women. In 2012, I found out that I am HIV

positive. I’ve never told anybody about my status till I came to this R4L training. Meeting people who love

the Lord and caring made me to share my health situation for the first time. From now on I will tell other

young people about the wrong choices I made and I am going to serve Christ with my Life. Thank you

to everyone who is involved in this powerful program. Thank you for giving me a family, hope and

purpose. I’m no longer going to be called an ex-convict anymore; from now on my community is going to

know me as a Reach4Life Peer Educator. This is going to be a great start in my life.

Care for the Elderly—Women Needed

We are desperately

seeking caring mature

women to care for the elderly in their homes.

Could you use flexible part-time hours, earning money doing a job you

love. . .caring for the elderly?

We’ve been privileged to provide care to seniors for almost 20

years. While we have plenty of 21-year-olds, (and we love their

enthusiasm), we want mature women with a heart for the elderly

and an understanding of this generation. One of our favorite caregivers

has been with us for almost ten years, is a still-young-at-heart 80-

year-old! As our name implies, we

bring care into the homes of the elderly, allowing them to safely

stay in their homes as long as possible. Our company’s owner is a

woman of strong faith. She has long loved the shared values

of folks from within the faith community. So it’s a natural place for us

to reach out to when looking to grow our pool of caregivers with

heart. Please share this

information with any group or person you think might be

interested. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at

253-943-1603. Warm regards,

Carol Barnier Community Care

Coordinator

Shoemaker Circle meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 10:30am, in Room 201 in

the South Building. February's meeting will host a Burien Police Officer who is going to give

some tips about how to stay safe when out in public. Senior citizens often pose an easy target

for persons wishing to harm. How can we stay "on our toes" to minimize threats? Any interested

ladies are welcomed.

FAMILY MISSION TRIP COMING SPRING BREAK 2017

The family mission trip is an opportunity for parents to bring their children on a cross-cultural mission experience where we will serve God’s Kingdom by building relationships, building homes, singing songs, playing games, and so much more.

If you’re interested in the Family Mission Trip for yourself and for your family, I invite you to sign up and get involved. Though the trip is designed for parents and their children we do also encourage the participation of other adults from the faith family to participate as well to aid in our efforts.

Sign up today and join others from Highline as we go out to share God’s love with the world!

MAKE THIS DIRT ROCK GLOW - WINTER RETREAT 4th-6th Grade Retreat @ Pleasant Valley Christian Camp - FEB 12-15

February 12-15 at camp our special speaker, Jake Schneiderhan, Student Pastor of New Life Christian Fellowship of Petaluma, CA, will be helping us look at some of the “in the dark” stories where Jesus turned the dark into light. Our worship team is working on some great “lights shine bright” worship songs and we have some amazing glow in the dark games planned. Plus, you get to hang out with some of the coolest counselors & leaders around. It’s going to be a great weekend learning about Jesus and how we can glow for Him!

So invite a friend or two, pack your bags, and join us for a 4 day weekend of fun, worship, great music, games, and learning about Jesus! It’s the perfect way to kick off 2016.

As we look at the Big God Story on Sunday mornings, we see

that God always shows himself in different ways. Sometimes God shows up in

a huge storm, other times a beautiful rainbow. In December, we saw God

show up in the form of a perfect baby boy. This month, we are learning about

how God shows up through fire, wind, and then a small quiet voice.

As a Big God Storyteller, we practice listening and recognizing God. We

have asked the kids to sit quietly, some said “I heard God!” It is a precious

thing to listen to a child be excited to hear God!

As parents, we have the unique opportunity to model and teach our chil-

dren to recognize God’s voice. Sometimes God works through us helping each

other. Sometimes we see God through protection. Other times, we see God

through His provision in our life. My challenge for you is to start naming those

to your child. Praise God together when you see a glimpse of Him!

With Sympathy

We would like to offer sympathy to the family of Lynda Nech. Lynda

was a member of Highline for many years before she had to move

out of the area due to health concerns. Lynda went home to be with

the Lord on January 2, 2016 and her memorial

service was held here at Highline on January 16. Please remember
