A Note from our Pastor, Fr. Matthew Crane
CHRISTMAS MASS
While every Mass could potentially involve the use of incense in order to add to the solem-nity of the occasion, it has become the custom in the parishes of the Diocese of Saint Cloud to use it only from time to time in order to more clearly mark out the more solemn Holy Masses. Hence, this Christmas, I will use incense at the Mass at Night, the 11 PM Holy Mass at St. Joseph’s in Clarissa, but not at the other celebrations for Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord.
Observing another venerable custom, the Mass at Night will be preceded by the Proclamation of The Birth of Christ from the Roman Martyrology. This text declares the Birth of Christ as a real historical event, situated among all the memorable events in
the unfolding of human history.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Matthew Crane
