From the Pastor’s Desk

School is now in session and summer is winding down. I am grateful for all the blessings God has provided throughout these last few months, and I look forward to a grace-filled and productive fall. As we transition out of one season and into another, it is worthwhile to reevaluate our spiritual goals as individuals and as families. What do we need to develop in our life of prayer? How will we grow in our knowledge of the faith? Are there ways in which we can be of better service to those who are less fortunate? What should we work on in our overall relationship with God?

In this vein, I want to commend all those who are considering taking Bible Studies with the sisters or joining “Walking with Purpose.” I also want to draw your attention to FORMED.org, a tremendous faith-enriching resource now made available to Christ the King parishioners (see the blurb below for more details). Whatever your pleasure might be, there are so many great ways to engage our Catholic tradition and cultivate our friendship with God. So let us continue to make our spiritual growth a priority and open our hearts to what the Lord wants to do in our lives this fall.

“Youth March of Faith 2016!” Where? New York City. When?

Saturday, September 16. Who? Youth people of faith from all over the country. A group will leave Christ the King Church at 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, to participate in this national event. Year of Mercy: Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C.! We are taking a

pilgrimage to several Catholic shrines in Washington, D.C. We will leave from Christ the King on Friday, Oct. 14, at 5:30 a.m. and return late on Saturday, Oct. 15. Cost: $200 per person, shared double occupancy or $250 per person single room. The price includes chartered motor coach to and from D.C., hotel accommodations and dinner for Oct. 14, hot breakfast at hotel, driver gratuity, and all guided tour fees. Starting on September 22, Christ the King is

inviting you to share in a 6-week program called “Walking with Purpose”. Our hope and goal is to have a refreshing approach to the parallel between scripture and life today. Women of all ages can connect, while studying and discussing the book “Living in the Father’s Love”. Feel free to join either the morning session at 10:00 a.m. or the evening session at 7:00 p.m. Registration will begin the first week of September. (This event is in English)

La escuela ya está en sesiones y el verano está terminando. Estoy agradecido por todas las bendiciones que Dios ha proveído durante los últimos meses, y espero tener un otoño productivo y lleno de gracia. A medida que pasamos de una estación a otra es importante evaluar nuestras metas espirituales como individuos y como familias. ¿Qué necesitamos desarrollar en nuestra vida de oración? ¿Cómo vamos a crecer en nuestro conocimiento de la fe? ¿Hay maneras en las que podemos servir mejor a los menos afortunados? ¿Cómo debemos mejorar nuestra relación con Dios? En esta línea, quiero reconocer a todos los que están tomando Estudios Bíblicos con las hermanas o considerando unirse a "Caminando con Propósito" en septiembre. Christ the King Church is looking for weekend custodial help. The primary responsibilities of this part-time position include

managing the church facilities on Saturday and Sunday, as well as setting up for parish activities and liturgies.
