The St. Vincent de Paul Society serves hundreds of needy families a month at the Bishop Griffin Service Center. For the

From the Pastor’s Desk
We are entering into the homestretch of the Advent season. We only have nine days until the celebration of the Nativity of Our Lord. There is still time for the final preparations – but we must hurry! If you have not done so already, consider seeking the Lord’s forgiveness in the sacrament of confession. This is one of the most beautiful ways we ready our souls for the Jesus’ coming. We will have our normal confession times this week, which includes Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. and Friday at 5:00 p.m. Another opportunity to ready ourselves for Christmas is our annual celebration of Posadas (in Spanish). We’ll gather at 7:00 p.m. each day to recall Mary and Joseph’s journey to the place of Jesus’ birth. This is both a spiritual and fun event every year. There will be a candlelight Mass (in English) that will take place this Thursday, December 20, at 7:00 p.m. as well. I cannot recall an event like this since my time at Christ the King. I pray that this unique Mass will bear much fruit for our parish. Looking ahead to January, we have a lot of room on the bus to Washington, D.C. for the March for Life. Please consider joining us for this tremendously important Pro-Life gathering in our nation’s capital. We will be the voice of our unborn brothers and sisters whose precious lives are not protected by law. May the Lord bless you throughout the upcoming week.

Parish News
Christmas Poinsettia Memorials are a way to remember our deceased loved ones, as well as decorate the church during the Christmas season. If you would like, place a $10.00 donation in an
envelope marked “Christmas Flowers” and include the name of your deceased loved one. Then put the envelope in the collection basket at Mass or drop it off in the parish office. All Christmas Flower donations must be submitted by Monday, December 17. (This event is bilingual.) We’re having our first Advent Candlelight Mass! Join us on
Thursday, December 20, at 7:00 p.m., for a special candlelight Mass in the church followed by refreshments and fellowship in the vestibule. All ages are welcome! (This event is in English). Men, mark your calendars! The next Parish Men’s Group meeting
will be Saturday, December 29, at 7:30 a.m. We will enjoy donuts and discuss the ways in which we live out our faith as men. (This event is in English.) You’re invited to participate in the 2019 March for Life in Washington, D.C. The March for Life is an annual gathering of
hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children who are in favor of safeguarding the sanctity of life. A bus from Christ the King will depart early in the morning on Thursday, January 17. We will attend the Mass for Life in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception that evening. The next day, we will participate in the Rally for Life at the Cathedral of Saint Matthew and the March for Life. We will then depart for Columbus late in the afternoon on Friday, January 18. The cost of the trip will be $100 per person and will include hotel and charter bus fare. Reservations must be made by Monday, December 17. Estamos entrando de lleno en el tiempo de Adviento. Solo tenemos nueve días hasta la celebración de la Natividad de Nuestro Señor. Todavía hay tiempo de preparación, ¡pero debemos darnos prisa!
Si aún no lo han hecho, consideren buscar el perdón del Señor en el sacramento de la confesión. Esta es una de las maneras más hermosas en que preparamos nuestras almas para la venida de Jesús. Tendremos nuestras horas normales de confesión esta semana, e martes a las 8:15 p.m. y el viernes a las 5:00 p.m.
Otra oportunidad para prepararnos para la Navidad es la celebración anual de las Posadas (en español). Nos reuniremos a las 7:00 p.m. cada día para recordar el viaje de María y José al lugar de nacimiento de Jesús. Este es un evento espiritual y divertido cada año.
Habrá una misa de las velas (en inglés) que tendrá lugar este jueves 20 de diciembre a las 7:00 p.m. también. No recuerdo un evento como este desde que llegue a Christ the King. Espero que esta misa única dé muchos frutos para nuestra parroquia.

Christ the King Women’s Club will sponsor a Women’s Retreat at St. Therese’s Retreat Center during the weekend of January 11-13. It is open to all women interested in making a retreat. The

that, starting in January, Christ the King will be launching a new program called Abound. Come enjoy a drink with friends, watch an engaging presentation, and share a conversation together in a relaxed atmosphere. Abound will take place on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of the month during the winter and spring. Warm drinks will be provided, and guests are welcome to bring adult beverages to share if they would like. There's no charge. Every three to four weeks, Abound will feature a new series based on the best and latest Catholic content. The Catholic Men’s Luncheon Club is accepting nominations for the Diocese of Columbus 2019 Catholic Man of the Year. This
annual award – to be presented on Friday, February 1, at the Men’s Luncheon – recognizes one lay man who, through his daily actions, words, and prayers, exemplifies the “good and faithful servant”. The recipient will have the opportunity to share his personal testimony during the ceremony. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, December 28.
