Life Teen Mission Trip: our teens are going to the Catholic Heart Work Camp in Ashland, MT (Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation) from July 10 to July 17. They will serve tirelessly through hard work: painting, making home repairs, doing yard work, and helping with child care. They will celebrate Mass daily, laugh, pray, build relationships, change on the inside, and think deeply.

‘I love helping people…. This mission trip is an amazing experience and I wish that every teen, not just from our church, but churches all over the world could experi-ence the presence of our Lord by serving him.’ Colleen, CK Teen

This is the third year our teens have attended CHWC. The first year we took 15 teens; this year we are taking 30. The attendance has doubled! We have siblings joining us and returning teens.

Fundraising for this trip begins Feb. 20 and 21 after every Mass. Please consider supporting our teens financially and through prayer.

Carmelite Corner

Ten Day Spiritual Retreat by Titus Brandsma {5 of 17} with Meditations on the Bl. Virgin Mary Leading to Intimacy with Jesus; taken from Essays on Titus Brandsma; Carmelite Media 2004 pages 247-261. Day II of Retreat: Meditations Meditation 1 Resolutions: Conversion. Keep our eyes fixed on God. We cannot serve two lords. Far from us all double-dealing, all hypocrisy. We commit ourselves to God joyously and gratefully. Do all that is to be done in his service, to fulfill his will in everything.

Meditation 2 Resolutions: In our weakness, we shall seek our help from God, preferably through the Blessed Sacrament. Here strengthen ourselves every day anew for that one day. “Give us this day our daily bread.”

Consider our life as a march through the desert toward Horeb to see God there. The future possession and contemplation of God can give our life a new and more pleasing aspect.

Meditation 3 Resolutions: Often remember that God loved us from all eternity, ab aeterno, and has willed to create us. To assure our salvation, he has also willed Mary’s Immacu-late Conception, ab aeterno. We should see ourselves united to Mary in the eternal plan of God.

Frequently humiliate ourselves before God for having despised his love. Invoke and praise the divine mercy. Rejoice in the Immaculate Conception and for the Nativity of Our Lady, as a foreshadowing of our redemption and eternal salvation.

Blessed Titus, pray for us.

Spiritual Practices

Ignatian Spirituality

During the Spiritual Exercises, Ignatius often referred to Jesus as humble (from the Latin word humus, meaning earth or ground). For Ignatius, this was the point: Jesus was humble and poor. He clung to nothing, yet his Father gifted him with abundant graces, which he gave away to us. Jesus loves us to the end, which is the beginning of a whole new reality and life eternal. In the Exercises, we learn how to pray through Jesus’ life using our senses and imagination so we can be more present to Christ.

For this year’s SEEL participants and alums, our next group meeting will be Saturday, March 12, from 9:30 to noon in the CK Youth Center. The theme will be the Passion of Christ.
