REJOICE
Isaiah proclaims truly good news to us! God’s coming brings not sadness, guilt, fear, wrath, or condemnation. No, God’s coming is a source of comfort and joy. Saying it once is not enough, for today’s readings are full of joy. Mary’s Magnificat substitutes for our psalm today, and our second reading encourages us to rejoice, to give thanks and praise. This is the root meaning of the Greek word for eucharist. We are urged to rejoice and give thanks, because the coming of the Lord brings joy, healing, liberty, release, vindication. It makes the very earth spring up with new life! Good tidings!
¡Buenas noticias! A WORD FROM FR. RAY
UNA PALABRA DEL PADRE. RAY We give great thanks to God for this most holy
season and for the wonderful Spirit of Christmas that has come to warm our hearts and bring families and loved ones together again this year. I am so blessed as your administrator and I am so humbled by your continued support of me and our staff.
I would like to thank all of you for your most generous support of the parish finances, ministries, fundraising opportunities, and those special anonymous benefactors that have been such a huge contribution in our efforts to pay our bills and hopefully soon pay down our debts to the Diocese. We have a ways to go before we are solvent, so please continue to make your weekly contributions and turn in your pledges for CSA 2017.
Thank you again for your Christmas participation and most of all for helping us make our Christmas Liturgies an inspiration. I would especially like to thank our Liturgy Committee under the leadership of Ellen Lerum and our music director Kenny Lerum for their time commitment to Christ the King in making our Liturgies reflect this most Holy Season by embellishing our worship to God and celebrating the birth of His Son. To all the endless musicians, coordinators, Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, our helpful and gracious greeters, our tech volunteers at each Mass, and for our wonderful ministry of those that proclaim the Word of God …. Thank You.
Please be reminded that that the Vigil Masses for Christmas DO NOT count as the Sunday Mass Obligation. We are required to attend the Sunday Masses either on Saturday the 23rd of December at 4:00 pm and or Sunday Morning, the 24th 7:30 am, 9:30 or 11:30 am (Spanish Mass). THERE WILL BE NO 3:30 pm MASS ON SUNDAY DECEMBER 24TH, as the 4:00 pm Mass on Sunday is the start of the Christmas Vigil Masses and those Masses DO NOT meet the requirement for the Sunday Mass Obligation. For many, this means attending Mass twice on December 24th, as the Sunday Mass Obligation ends with the 11:30 am Spanish Mass.
It's recommended to attend the Saturday 4:00 pm Mass on the 23rd of December to meet the Sunday obligation, and perhaps attend a Christmas Day Mass on December 25th, thus avoiding the obligation of attending two Masses on the same day in order to meet the Sunday Mass and Christmas Mass obligations. This overlapping happens every 7 cycles of the Liturgical Calendar. Thank you for your cooperation and diligence in attending these Masses.
May your Christmas be filled with Joy of this Holy Season
Father Ray
Padre Ray

Dear Parishioners and Guests,
As we continue to get familiar with our new worship space, I thought it would be helpful to provide a diagram on how our communion stations will be set up for our Masses. At our busiest Masses and whenever possible, depending on whether we have enough Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, we will have 5 stations available. At those times when we aren’t as busy or have a limited number of Ministers, we will only have 3 stations. Provided below is a diagram which shows all 5 stations. The 3 stations in front will be used at all masses with the 2 in the back added when needed. Please note where the start of each station begins. When you come to church, you will notice bright orange directional arrows on the floor. These will guide you when we have 5 stations and will remain there until our community gets used to these new configurations. When done correctly, this will allow the distribution of Communion to flow much quicker. But as in all things, it’s going to take time.
Your Sister in Christ, Ellen Cabaluna-Lerum
Estimados Feligreses e Invitados,

"SIMBANG GABI" ~ December 15 - 23, 2017 BACKGROUND: In the Philippines, these novena masses are celebrated in the morning, 4-5am or in the evening 6-7pm. It is also called “Misa de Gallo” (mass when the cock crows) or “Misa de Aguinaldo”. This is a very much desired Filipino religious tradition. Back home, families wake up early, attend Mass and fill up many churches. After the liturgy, delicious Filipino food and delicacies are served and shared by families. Thus this becomes both a religious and social gathering. ACTIVITIES: In the Las Vegas valley, “Simbang Gabi 2017” is celebrated in different parishes at their regular Mass time, as published in parish bulletins. Parishioners are invited to attend and participate in the novena. The Pastor/Associate at the assigned parish may preside the liturgy. Visiting priests may be welcome to concelebrate. The readings :of the day are read and proclaimed. A simple reception/fellowship takes place after mass.

This is the time of year that we are asked to remember what Christmas is all about, beginning with Charity, Good Wishes and Peace. Remember to keep Christ in Christmas.
Our coat drive for kids in need here at Christ the King was a big success as we collected 63 coats, sweaters and sweatshirts for distribution.
The Knights and Christ the King Supported our Veterans on Veterans Day by being the first rest stop on the Honor Ride, we provided snacks and refreshments to over 600 riders including one of our very own, SK Rick Houle.
The Knights would like to welcome our new members to the council. They are: Ryan Clearwater, Dennis Kubala, Manuel Medeira, Mark Harmonay. David Baudhuin. and we had the following Knights transfer to our council: Joe Cerame, Tayag Rogelio, Mario Arrlyza, Lorenzo Araque.
We also have 6 individuals that are waiting for their first degree.
As you can see now is the time to join the Knights and make a difference.
