Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before You our sinful nature -

prone to evil and slothful in good - and all our shortcomings and offenses against You. You

alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in

forgetting Your love. O Lord, have mercy on us, who are ashamed and sorry for all wherein we

have displeased You. Teach us to hate our errors, cleanse us from our secret faults, and forgive

our sins for the sake of Your dear Son. And O most holy and loving Father, send Your purifying

grace into our hearts, we beseech You, that we may henceforth live in Your light and walk in

Your ways, according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON Hebrews 8:10,12

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I

will put My laws into their minds, and I will write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and

they shall be My people… For I will be merciful to their iniquities and I will remember their sins

no more.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH 19th Century Confession of Faith

Unison:

I believe in the one only living and true God; that he is the Creator and preserver of all; and that he

is infinite in all his attributes of wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.

I believe in the doctrine of future rewards and punishments: that all who love and fear God shall

eventually be saved with Him in Heaven, and that all who die in their sins shall be lost forever.

I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the one and only Mediator between God and man; that he was

offered up as a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice: and that there is no other name given under Heaven

whereby man may be saved.

I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was both God and man; and that He with the Father and the

Holy Ghost, mysteriously constitute the Godhead; and that they are one God and three persons

forever.

I believe in the necessity of Repentance and Holiness of life; and that without these no man can see

God in peace.

I believe in the utter inability of man of himself to do anything aright; and it is my purpose, God

helping me, henceforward to lead a godly, righteous, and sober life.

I now renounce the world, the flesh, the Devil; and look only to Jesus as my Saviour from sin as well

as from death.

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be;

World without end, Amen, Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts; as we

forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the

kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
