Announcements
Processional Christ for the World We Sing
Christ for the world we sing,
The world to Christ we bring, with loving zeal,
The poor and them that mourn, the faint and overborne,
Sin sick and sorrow worn, whom Christ doth heal.
Christ for the world we sing,
The world to Christ we bring, with fervent prayer;
The wayward and the lost, by restless passions tossed,
Redeemed at countless cost, from dark despair.
Christ for the world we sing,
The world to Christ we bring, with one accord;
With us the work to share, with us reproach to dare,
With us the cross to bear, for Christ our Lord.
Christ for the world we sing,
The world to Christ we bring, with joyful song;
The newborn souls, whose days, reclaimed from error’s ways,
Inspired with hope and praise, to Christ belong. Samuel Wolcott, 1869

The Collect for Purity
Praying together
ALMIGHTY God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and
from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by
the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Summary of the Law
Jesus said: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.
The Gloria in Excelsis (Tune: Scottish Gloria)
Glory be to God on High And on earth peace – good will towards men. We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee. We glorify thee, we give thanks to thee For thy great glory. O Lord God, heavenly king, God the father almighty: O Lord, the only begotten son, Jesus Christ, O Lord God, lamb of God, son of the father: That takest away the sins of the world, Have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, Receive our prayer. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father Have mercy upon us. For thou, only, art holy. Thou, only, art the Lord. Thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, Art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Celebrant. Let us pray.
The Collect for the Persecuted Church
Praying together
O LORD God, whose Son Jesus Christ suffered and died for us and
in His resurrection restores life and peace to all creation; O Lord
God, our Redeemer, Defender, Protector, and Avenger, we pray for
Your people who are victims of violence and hatred and are op-
pressed and injured by their fellow humans. Give strength and en-
couragement to them by Your Holy Spirit. Look upon them and help
us to honor those who are suffering or have died in Your ser-
vice. Comfort their families and give them courage. Thwart the op-
pressors and call them to repentance, but if they will not repent, we
commit them to Your justice. All this we pray through the same,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Collect for the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost
.God, our refuge and strength, true source of all godliness: Gra-ciously hear the devout prayers of your Church, and grant that those things which we ask faithfully we may obtain effectually; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who sits at your right hand to inter-cede for us, and who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns in everlasting glory. Amen.

THE PSALM PSALM 23
The King of Love My Shepherd Is The King of love my Shepherd is, Whose goodness faileth never, I nothing lack if I am His And He is mine forever. Where streams of living water flow My ransomed soul He leadeth, And where the verdant pastures grow, With food celestial feedeth. In death's dark vale I fear no ill With Thee, dear Lord, beside me; Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me. Thou spread'st a table in my sight; Thy unction grace bestoweth; And O what transport of delight From Thy pure chalice floweth! And so through all the length of days Thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise Within Thy house forever. Public Domain

PARISH LIFE
Diocesan Synod 2017 This year’s Diocesan Synod will be held at Trinity REC
in Mason, OH, a short drive from here. This gives our
parishioners an opportunity easily to attend. The
dates are Thursday and Friday, October 26 and 27.
Thursday begins at 8:00 a.m. with Holy Communion
and everything concludes on Friday at noon following the closing
Eucharist. If you are interested in attending, please see Fr. Isaac,
Dss Candy, Duane Veley, or Pat Prenger who are attending from
our parish. If you can spare the time, this is a wonderful way to get
to know other clergy and laity in our diocese and see how diocesan
affairs are conducted.
Also, on Thursday, there will be a special ladies’ luncheon featuring
Gale Hill, head of the REC Women of the Church. She will be pre-
senting new plans for a restructure of the WoC.
It’s That Time Again!
Once again, Hope4Riverside churches are
cooperating to collect hats, gloves, and mit-
tens for children in our community. Espe-
cially needed are sizes suitable for Kinder-
garten through Middle School. Please start bringing your contribu-
tions next week. We will be collecting for the next several weeks.
Last year we filled the “big brown bag” — this year let’s try to double
that! This is a great way to reach out with the love of God to our
neighbors and provide for their needs in a tangible way as well.
Thank you so much for your generosity!

The Children's Sermon
The Sermon
The Nicene Creed
Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed:
CELEBRANT AND PEOPLE
WE believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of
heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.
WE believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eter-
nally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true
8
from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he
came down from heaven and was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and
the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the
third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he as-
cended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his
kingdom will have no end.
WE believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who pro-
ceeds from the Father [and the Son], who with the Father and the
Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the
prophets.
WE believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowl-
edge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resur-
rection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The filioque [and the Son] is not in the original Greek text. Nevertheless, in the
Western Church the filioque [and the Son] is customary at worship and is used for
the explication of doctrine [39 Articles of Religion]. The operative resolution of the
College of Bishops concerning use of the filioque is printed with the General In-
structions at the end of the Holy Communion, Long Form.
The Prayers of the People
LET us pray for the whole state of Christ’s Church and the world.
ALMIGHTY and ever-living God, in your holy Word you have taught
us to offer prayers and requests, and to give thanks for all whom
you have made. We appeal to your mercy, Gracious Lord, that you
might hear our prayer.
Reader. Lord, in your mercy,
People. hear our prayer.

MOST merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in
thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we
have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we
have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and
we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have
mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and
walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
The Bishop or Priest stands and says

Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise. When the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say, "Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name. Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name." Blessed be Your name When the sun's shining down on me When the world's “all as it should be” Blessed be Your name Blessed be Your name On the road marked with suffering Though there's pain in the offering Blessed be Your name You give and take away You give and take away My heart will choose to say Lord blessed be Your name Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name. Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name. © 2002 Thankyou Music (Admin. by EMI Christian Music Publishing),

The Post Communion Prayer
Let us pray.
Celebrant and People praying together
HEAVENLY Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiri-
tual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son
our Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy
mysteries that we are living members of the Body of your
Son, and heirs of your eternal kingdom. And now, Father,
send us out into the world to do the work you have given us 11
The Peace
Celebrant. The Peace of the Lord be always with you.
People. And with your spirit.
Then the Ministers and People may greet one another in the name
of the Lord.
Celebrant. Let us remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ
and how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.
The Offertory The People stand while the offerings are presented.
Presentation Hymn
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him, all creatures here below!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host,
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Alleluia, alleluia! Alleluia, alleluia! Alleluia!
The Celebrant may pray the following prayer
YOURS, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and
the victory, and the majesty: for everything in heaven and on earth
is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as Head
above all.
Praying together
All things come from you, O Lord, and of your own have we given
you. Amen. (1 Chronicles 29:11, 14)
Then the Celebrant will say,
OUR fellow Christians of other branches of Christ’s Church, who
have been Baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Spirit, are affectionately invited to the Lord’s Table.
12
The Sursum Corda and Sanctus
The People remain standing. The Celebrant faces them and sings or says
Celebrant. The Lord be with you.
People. And with your spirit.
Celebrant. Lift up your hearts.
People. We lift them to the Lord.
Celebrant. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God
People. It is just and right so to do.
IT is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to
give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Arch-
angels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this
hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

AFTER supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks,
he gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood
of the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the
forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance
of me.”
THEREFORE we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Celebrant and People praying together
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
The Celebrant continues
LORD and heavenly Father, with these holy gifts we celebrate the
memorial instituted by your beloved Son, remembering his passion
and death, his resurrection and ascension, and his promise to come
again. Grant that by his merits and death, and through faith in his
Blood, we and your whole Church may receive forgiveness of our
sins and all other benefits of his passion, making us one body with
him that he may dwell in us, and we in him. And here we offer to
you, O Lord, our selves, our souls and bodies, to be a living sacri-
fice, through Jesus Christ our Lord. BY him and with him and in him,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty
Father, now and forever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer The Celebrant then says
AND now as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to pray

Celebrant. Let us pray
Prayer of Consecration
ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, in your tender mercy, you
gave your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for
our redemption. He offered himself and made, once for all time, a
perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He
instituted this remembrance of his passion and death, which he
commanded us to continue until he comes again. So now, Father,
we ask you to bless and sanctify, with your Word and Holy
Spirit, these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his
most blessed Body and Blood.
ON the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took
bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to
his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for
you: Do this in remembrance of me.”
AFTER supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks,
he gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my
Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many,
for the forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in re-
membrance of me.”
THEREFORE we proclaim the mystery of faith:

The Prayer of Humble Access
WE do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trust-
ing in our own righteousness, but in your abundant and great mer-
cies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under
your table. But you are the same Lord, who always delights in
showing mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the
flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our
sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls
washed through his most precious blood, and that we may ever-
more dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.
