Active Faith Workshops will resume on Sunday, April 23rd at 11 am in the First Family Room. CHRIST IS RISEN! We have a picture from a 1906 Easter celebration at First Church, Downtown. Across the front there was a big ban- ner which read, “Christ is Risen!” These words rang true from the garden tomb that first Easter morning. They are our hope. They are the foundation of our faith. A RISEN Savior. A stone rolled away. Death defeated. Sin’s weight removed. Separation no longer. EASTER is more than a day. It is a proclamation of LIFE eternal. It gives meaning to F-O-R-E-V-E-R! Let’s celebrate! Pray. Invite your friends and family. Let’s come together at the Mathewson as our church family invites the families of our community to share in the good news of Jesus’ rising from the dead. We will sing, and pray and share the good news. We will come together and God will be among us. May every church be filled to overflowing and may we extend a beautiful welcome to those who will join us at the Mathewson. We are RISING up. Rise up in faith. Rise up in hope. Rise up in Love. God is on the move and we are walking with the RISEN ONE to new places and new ways of living for Jesus! In some traditions Easter service opens with the words, “Christ is risen.” And the people respond, “HE is risen INDEED!” YES! And AMEN!

MOSS GROUP APPRECIATES SUPPORT The MOSS group (Mothers of Serving Soldiers) provided and packed home-made cookies and snacks for servicemen and women connected to our con-gregation. Funds from our church's SOS (Support Our Soldiers) fund were used to pay part of the postage. We appreciate your continued support of that fund so that we might be able to occasionally send love through written messages and cares, as well as good eating, to those who are serving our nation in the military services. Your prayerful support is also appreciated

ACTIVE FAITH DISCIPLESHIP PRESENTS Jonah: A Small Group Experience Have you been interested in joining a small group? Do you wonder what it would be like to join with others as you “do life” together: sharing, caring, and growing in Christ? Maybe you’ve got bigger questions like, how do I get out of this whale? First Church’s Active Faith Discipleship Ministry is launching an 8-week study beginning April 19th that will help us grow deeper in the ministry of Presence: presence in one another’s life and presence in the life of Christ. Group discussions will be based around Right Now Media’s study on Jonah with Dr. Eric Mason. We will also be modeling what a longer term small group experience might look life for you. Come Get Active with us!

We report

finances monthly.
