We welcome you warmly to Trinity Presbyterian Church where we strive to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. We are especially thankful for visitors, and we are grateful to be able to worship in person again. All service liturgy is projected onto the screen, but you’re welcome to use the pew Bible or hymnal when referenced. If you have trouble hearing clearly, there are hearing devices that could be obtained from one of the ushers. We are currently livestreaming our worship services for those who are not able to be with us in person. Please also feel free to invite others to worship with us online. You may access our livestreaming on YouTube on Sunday or recordings afterwards. Please go to the church website (trinitypc.org) for the direct link. During this period, baskets will be placed in the narthex for your offering. As an alternative, you may also give online directly by either going to the church website and clicking on the green “GIVE NOW” button, or scan the QR code here on the right with your smart phone. The Season after Pentecost, also called Ordinary Time, begins the day after Pentecost and ends the day before the First Sunday of Advent. It may include twenty-three to twenty-eight Sundays, depending on the date of Easter, but the first Sunday is always Trinity Sunday, and the last Sunday is always the Sunday of the Reign of Christ or Christ the King. Although the scripture lessons in the lectionary for this half of the year go in a semi-continuous cycle through books of the Bible rather than follow a theme, the gospel lessons cover Jesus’ teaching ministry and the church’s mission in the world. The liturgical color for this season is GREEN, signifying growth in Christ, except on Communion Sundays when it is white.

Call to Worship (adapted from Joachim Neander, 1680)

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise him, for he is our health and salvation! Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning; sheltering us under his wings, and so gently sustaining! Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near, join us in glad adoration!

MAKING OUR CONFESSION Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession Holy, triune God: We confess we have not always lived for your glory — You claim us as your people, but we often seek out other saviors; you welcome us into your house, but we bring conflict and division.

Forgive us, God of grace. Restore and rebuild us so that we may be ready to live in the eternal home you promise; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Silent Reflection (Reflecting on the Prayer of Confession)

Assurance of Pardon . . . Friends, believe the Good News. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Praise & Worship Night — June 11, from 6:30 to 7:30pm

Mark this date on your calendar and join us on Friday, June 11 for this one hour of

Worship and Praise Service. Come and be refreshed as we sing favorite contemporary

and traditional songs. How Great Thou Art, Great Is Thy Faithfulness, Here I Am to Worship,

Holy Spirit, To God Be the Glory, Go Make a Difference, The Heart of Worship are just a few

of the selections to be presented. If you don't know the song, close your eyes and

meditate on the words. If you know the song, sing heartily! There will be something for

everyone to participate! Refreshment will be served after the service. Why not bring a

friend along?

Coffee & Fellowship — Sunday Mornings, 9:30 to 10:30

Since most have now been vaccinated for COVID-19, our Session has decided to open

the Welcome Center, located just inside the main doors, on Sunday mornings between

services. We invite you to join us for a time of coffee and fellowship before leaving

today. This is a great way to get to know others you worship with as well as those who

worship at the 10:30 hour. We look forward to seeing you there.

Summer Choir — Sunday Mornings @ 10am

Come join the Summer Choir. We rehearse at 10am each Sunday morning and sing in

Traditional Worship once or twice per month. For more information, contact Donna

Smith at [email protected] or text her at 941-468-6096.

Praise Team Rehearsals — Thursdays @ 10:30am

The Praise Team can use more members as well — additional singers and a guitarist.

Music is provided well in advance of when it is scheduled. A Google Drive is also set up

online with recordings of the worship music. Praise Team members can download the

recordings and practice on their own. The Praise Team rehearses together on Thursday

mornings at 1030am.

Prayer-n-Share — Thursdays @ 7pm

Join Pastor Bill and others for this 30-minute Online time of

sharing prayer concerns with each other before engaging in

prayer for the church, our country, and one another. You can

find the Zoom link on our website (trinitypc.org). If you have a

prayer concern, please call the church office (941-493-0018 ext.

224) or email [email protected].

What Happened on This Day in Christian History

Philip William Otterbein was baptized on June 6, 1726, as an infant in Germany. Later, at age 26, Otterbein felt called to immigrate to America to do missionary work. He became a noted pioneer pastor to Germans in America and the father of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ (later part of the Evangelical United Brethren

Church and now a part of the United Methodist Church). John Wesley preached on his father’s tombstone at Epworth, England, on this day in 1742, to a “vast multitude gathered from all parts.” Remembering the harsh and disappointing times his father, a local minister, had endured in Epworth, Wesley wrote: “O let none think

his labor of love is lost because the fruit does not immediately appear.” June 6, 1844, marks the founding of the YMCA in London under the leadership of a local merchant named George Williams who had conducted weekly meetings of prayer and Bible study for young men. The original purpose of London’s YMCA was “to seek

to win over young men to the faith and love of Jesus Christ.” June 6, 1882, is the

date of the composition of “O Love that Wilt Not Let Me Go” by George Matheson. H. C. Dillon and his new wife, Margaret, went to Central America as missionaries. When Dillon died of yellow fever, Margaret remained in Honduras, training local evangelists. Fifteen years passed without a furlough, then she planned a trip home. While packing, she was stricken with yellow fever and was carried 36 miles to a missions station, arriving on June 6, 1913. She died two days later.
