WHY ICHOSEHIM

First of all, I came upon him because some of the characters that he built, like stitch, is one of my favourite movie character. It’s cute, unique, very very original and has a fitted personality and facial expressions, I think that he had done a good job on it. I had also watched his interview and he seems like a really good and perfectionist person, he also talks really fast which might suggests that he’s excited to answer these questions about his works that are directed to him. I kinda like his approach on designing the character, it’s simple, he just draws whenever an idea comes into his mind and he doesn’t like to make it complex. He also said that his principle is to look at his characters in a story approach, don’t bend the characters too much, he said that you shouldn’t contradict each character designer too much too, if they have a vision, let them be.

I also like him for his ability of altering stories to fit the movie. In the movie How to Train Your Dragon, he actually built Toothless, one of the main character in the movie, a dragon. Toothless wasn’t even supposed to exist, but in the end his and Dubois’s work in the plot really made the movie more interesting.

SEUNG UK HONG

He’s not famous or well known but I found his profile on Behance and I was immediately attracted to his characters. It definitely fullfilled the rules of character design in terms of expression, appeal, and proportion. His illustrations are cartoonish and soft, I love it, it also captures the emotions of the characters. According to his profie, he’s currently working at an animation company in Korea.

ANDRE MEDINA

Andre Medina is known for his work on Wreck-It Ralph (2012), The Simpsons Movie (2007) and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015). Again, there’s not much information about him and the concept of his works but I came upon his name from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, one of my favourite movies. He’s currently working at Sony Animation pictures

I’m attracted to his works because of his illustrations and personality that he has put

inside the character, like the way Flint’s hair looks on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

really brought up his scientific field .
