After graduating he worked in advertising and as a freelance illustrator working mainly for educational publications. He began etching about fifteen year’s ago after attending a printmaking course at Suffolk College. As an illustrator the majority of his work is figurative and now as a contrast he tends to explore landscape and architecture in his prints. When he was a student he was encouraged to keep a sketchbook and he finds this a rewarding habit producing many of his prints from sketches. Collagraph is an excting print medium with great creative opportunity. Collagraph prints are made using a piece of cardboard onto which differently textured paper shapes are glued using PVA. Dark areas are made by cutting and peeling away the top layer of card. Lines can be drawn into the card using a hard pencil. Button polish seals the card ready for printing. The plate is inked with small pieces of card and wiped with paper. Materials required: Sketches or Images you wish to work from, no larger than A5 An apron or old shirt A craft knife and small pair of scissors All other materials will be provided. 15% discount available on art products for anyone booked on to the course. Two uses permitted which expire at the end of the course.
