A PUBLICATION OF COLONIAL HEIGHTS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
This Sunday, the Sunday following Epiphany and
the end of Christmas, is always The Baptism of the
Lord Sunday. It is an opportunity for us to
remember and ponder once again our own
baptism.
The study catechism, approved for use in 1998 at
the 210th General Assembly, says this:
Question 71: What is
baptism?
Answer: Baptism is the sign
and seal through which we are
joined to Christ.
Question 72: What does it mean to be baptized?
Answer: My baptism means that I am joined to
Jesus Christ forever. I am baptized into his death
and resurrection, along with all who have received
him by faith. As I am baptized with water, he
baptizes me with his Spirit, washing away all my
sins and freeing me from their control. My baptism
is a sign that one day I will rise with him in glory,
and may walk with him even now in newness of life.

Sunday
MARTHA CIRCLE will gather on Tuesday, January 9, at 10:30
am, in the parlor. Join us for prayer, Bible Study and
fellowship.
GARAGE SALE: Coming March 23-24. Start packing up your
garage sale items for this big event. The garage sale has
become a huge fundraiser for our church and we hope that
this year will be our biggest sale yet. Please let Karen Dale
([email protected]) know if you can help work any/all of the
week of March 19-23. It takes many hands to get everything
sorted and priced. You may drop off your items at the
church starting MARCH 19. If you cannot wait until March
19 you may contact Karen Dale 239-4522 or email at
CALENDARS: 2018 calendars are available in the
kitchenette off of the narthex.
NEW UPPER ROOM and THESE DAYS DEVOTIONAL
BOOKLETS are available in the narthex.
ONGOING MINISTRIES: We regularly collect food pantry
items for Waverly Road Food Bank and individually wrapped
snack items for the Holston Medical Hospitality Cart.
Collection baskets are in the narthex.
