Choosing Silk Ties

Silk ties are neck ties made of natural silk, offering elegance, glamour, and visual interest. They match high-end suits and are perfect for formal occasions. They usually come with bold color schemes, designs, and patterns that imply superiority and security. Hence, although they are quite costly, they are preferred by many

professionals and executives, according to textile manufacturing companies.

Silk ties, however, also have some drawbacks. They are very delicate, requiring regular and proper cleaning. They get easily punctured by ordinary tie tacks; hence, require the use of non-invasive tie clips only. Although silk ties are excellent investments, if they are not maintained accordingly, their value will easily depreciate.

Types of Silk Ties

Woven jacquard silk ties – These ties feature designs that are already woven together into the fabric. They make use of different colored threads when they are being constructed. Therefore, they usually are thicker than other silk ties. They come in a wide variety of colors and designs.

Printed silk ties – These ties feature designs that are printed onto the fabric. They offer greater flexibility in colors and designs than woven jacquard models. They are also thinner and easier to tie. They come in a wide variety of colors and designs.

What to Consider when Purchasing Silk Ties

Shape and length – For high-class silk ties, choose one with a European shape, featuring a larger knot than American models. Make sure that its length reaches your waist when it has been properly tied around your neck.

Backing material – Choose a silk tie with a back that is of the same material or a material with the same quality as the front.

Construction – For quality silk ties, make sure that a model is purely hand-made. This may usually be costly though. For inexpensive alternatives, go for machine-made silk ties; although they may offer poor quality. Machine-made ties but finished with hand are high-end and are often fairly priced.

While there are other types of neck ties to choose from, it is wise to invest in a few pieces of silk ties so you can have a variation. For more fashion and textile tips from textile manufacturing companies, visit us!
