Do you like to sing? Have you ever wanted to lead

the congregation in song during a mass? Become a

cantor at St. Fidelis Parish today!

Cantors are scheduled for 2-3 masses each month,

and are given schedules well in advance to avoid

scheduling conflicts. Previous vocal training is not

required, but past vocal performance is beneficial.

All cantors will be trained in the leadership system

that is used at our church prior to cantoring their

first mass.

Currently, 18 people share their talent as cantors in

our parish, and their involvement is greatly

appreciated. If you think that you’d like to serve

our parish’s music ministry by being a cantor,

contact Catie Brown (Music Director) using the

contact information on the back side of this

pamphlet.

The St. Fidelis Choir is an active musical group with over 65 members. Singing a diverse repertoire of music, the choir serves to bring its listeners

closer to God through artful musical worship.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When does the choir rehearse? The rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM (7:30PM during lent).

When does the choir perform? The choir performs each Sunday at the Meridian worship site’s 10:30AM mass. The choir can also be heard singing at important worship events throughout the year including Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, Veteran’s Day, Weddings, Funerals, etc...) The Choir season begins each year in early September and lasts until Memorial Day weekend (May). The Choir does not sing in the summer (exceptions are made for occasional weddings).

Do I have to audition? Anyone wishing to become a member must be able to match pitch (sing on key). Occasionally, prospective members may be asked to sing part of a well-known hymn, or a simple scale to evaluate their voice for Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass and their ability to match pitch.

How do I join? Youth and adults ages 15 and over are invited to join at any time! For more information, contact the choir director using the information in this brochure. New members will be accepted in any section that has vacancies.
