Bring a Drink Bottle We are asking that all students please bring a full, labelled drink bottle to school everyday. There are filtered taps which students can fill up their bottles during the day. The bubblers have been closed for hygiene reasons at this time. Harmony Friday 20 March WEAR: ORANGE CLOTHES On Friday Tregeagle PS will celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity in Harmony. Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of respecting each other and our differences. Australia’s success as a multicultural nation is underwritten by our values, our mutual understanding of our rights and responsibilities as citizens and our respect for each other. Our shared Australian values of respect, equality and freedom go beyond our different cultures, and are what makes Australia such a great place to live. The message of respect and belonging can be lived by each of us, every day, not just during Harmony Day. By wearing orange on Friday, Tregeagle PS will be sending a strong message that ‘Everyone belongs’ in our school community. Students will be participating in 5 activity rotations organised by Mr Bock and the SRC events team around multi-culturalism and anti-bullying. There will also be a meal deal fundraiser on the day. Parent/Teacher Meetings If you would like to speak with your child’s classroom teacher, please call or email the school office to make a mutually appropriate time for a meeting or return phone call. Classroom teachers want the best for your children and are very busy before and after school; planning, attending meetings and professional learning and often they find it difficult to have an unplanned professional conversation with parents when they are on the run or preparing lessons. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. [email protected] School Uniform – Socks/Jumpers Recently Tregeagle PS has had an influx of students wearing odd or brightly coloured socks to school. School uniform socks are white, grey, navy or black socks. As the weather appears to be getting cooler could students wear their royal blue jumper/jacket. Students have been spoken to about this. Tregeagle PS has high expectations for all students wearing the correct uniform as it promotes a sense of collective school pride. Tell Them From Me student feedback survey (Term 1, 2020) I am delighted that this term, our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices. http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. More than 6,300 schools in Australia and around the world have used Tell Them From Me to survey 5.4 million students. Capturing the voices of our students will help improve how we do things at our school. I want to assure you that the survey is confidential. The survey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes to complete. It will be administered during school hours between 9 March and 8 May. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary. Please contact the school office if you do not want your child or children to participate.

Ms Braddon – Landcare News We have the best Landcare dads at our school! David and Dan came to our last Junior Landcare session and guided us through the process of splitting our bee hive. David donated a native bee hive to our school quite a while ago and it had now got so healthy and full of life that they were able to split it to create another bee hive. Our Junior Landcarers were fascinated by the intricate honeycomb patterns created by the bees and were able to taste the flavour of native bee honey – some loved it and some did not! It has a very interesting flavour indeed. The bees are very friendly and do not sting. Some bees took a particular liking to some students and were a little too friendly but our students managed just fine. We viewed the native bees with insect magnifying glasses and discovered that they have similar features to introduced honey bees. It was such an interesting afternoon and Dan, Chrissy and Bella are now the proud owners of a new family of native bees at their home. Thank you David for sharing your extensive knowledge and especially for the time you have taken to educate our students on something so important and valuable to our environment.

PSSA Sports Congratulations to Jesse, Miles and Chase for competing in the PSSA Basketball trials and to Jai, Tommy and Willow for competing in the PSSA Tennis trials. Both group of boys had a great time and are inspired to keep practising their skills for future competitions. Thank you for representing our school with pride and respect.
