Designed for both stand-alone use and for compounding with other soluble or powder fertilizers. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION Chitsan 6 is a 6% solution of acid extractable fungal chitosan (CAS 9012-76-4). This product is manufactured entirely from fungal chitsosan that has a more uniform structure compared to chitosan from insect or crustacean and is more readily absorbed by plants and recognised by a plants immune system. Chitosan 6 contains at least 3 times more chitosan than competitor products and is the versatility to be used in most plantcare product types (see below) Chitosan 6 is intended as a technical grade intermediate for use by blenders and compounder of plantcare products and is effective when diluted down by up to 600-times. This product comes pre-diluted for easy handling and addition to aqueous products. (Chitosan 6 is also available in powder form upon request) INTRODUCTION TO CHITOSAN Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed β-(1-4)-linked D- glucosamine (deacetylated unit) and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (acetylated unit). It is traditionally made from chitin found in shells of crustaceans, such as lobster, crabs and shrimp, and also in insects and fungi. It is one of the most abundant biodegradable materials in the natural environment. Chitosan has a number of commercial uses including in agriculture where it has long and safe history use as: natural biocontrol agent with antimicrobial effectives against a wide variety of fungi and bacteria. ecofriendly biopesticide it can pre-arm pine trees to defend themselves against mountain pine beetle. seed treatment helping plants to fight off fungal infections, increase germination rate soil amendment to protect against and repair damage caused by nematodes; increase dry matter contact and crop yield foliar treatment to prevent fungal, bacterial and viral attack
