Brief Description of the Event:

Sardar Patel College of Pharmacy, Bakrol participated in N.S.S. Programme Officers’ Chintan Shibir-2019 during March 7-8, 2019 organized by Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad at Statue of Unity, Tent city-2, Narmada.

DAY-1 (07-03-2019)

We have reached at Tent City-2, Narmada sharp at 10.00am as per our reported time on Day-1 (07-03-2019) and had been allotted tent F-41 on twin sharing base. Almost 100 Program Officers’ from various colleges affiliated to GTU had reported on the same day before 12.30pm. [SESSION-I]

We have been given a registration kit which includes the entire program schedule and various coupons for the hospitality during the event. Once we get ready then we have reported to Dining Hall and had a delicious gala lunch served by Courtyard Marriott. Then we were instructed to get rest and get ready at 3.50pm sharp for High tea at the same place and left for SARDAR SAROVAR DAM SITE. After visiting the DAM site, we were guided to visit the VALLEY OF FLOWER. Then after on SIC (Seat in Coach) basis, we were taken to visit world’s tallest STATUE OF UNITY. We have visited STATUE OF UNITY campus and Exhibition gallery and finished at 7.00pm. Later in the evening there was a LASER SHOW showing history of Indian Independence and glory of making THE STATUE OF UNITY. Sharp at 7.50 we left for the Tent City-2 and had our dinner by 9.00pm. Tent City-2 had arranged a cultural event showing Tribal culture and dance during that show which continued up to 10.30pm. Then all the Program Officers went to their tent as they had been instructed to get up early in the morning for YOGA SESSION.

DAY-2 (08-03-2019)

All the POs got up early in the morning at 5.30pm and warmed up for YOGA SESSION. Then we left for hicking at SUNRISE POINT nearby 6.20am in the morning and returned back 7.30am to get ready and finished our breakfast nearby 8.30am.

Inauguration Session started at 9.30am. Dignitaries on the dais for lamp lightening were Mr. Kamal Kar (Regional Director, NSS), Dr. S.D.Panchal (I/c Registrar, GTU), Mr. Alpesh Dafda (NSS Co-ordinator, GTU), Mr. Akash Gohil (Sports incharge, GTU) and Mr. Dhaval Varia (NCC Co-ordinator, GTU). [LAMP LIGHTENING DURING INAUGURATION SESSION]

Welcome speech was delivered by Dr. S.D.Panchal on the theme ‘RASHTRA KO JANO, RASHTRA KO MAANO AND RASHTRA KE BANO’. The inauguration session ended at 1.20 pm and all the POs along with dignitaries went for lunch between 1.30-2.30pm.

Mr. Niraj Shelavat from Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Sadra had presented various NSS activities conducted at their campus last year and motivated all the POs to raise the fund by themselves performing various activities. Enlisted activities were like Blood Donation directly with government institute, GEER foundation sponsored ECO club, Bio Fuel Production, CPR training workshop, Gandhi Vichaar ka Prachaar, Extra classes for weak students, Special computer classes for under privileged students, Yoga training session, Help team for Natural Calamaties etc.

Next session was by Mr. Kamal Kar sir who briefed about various activities under National Service Scheme (NSS) at Regional level. He briefed about Young India Portal and Mygov portal.

Last briefing in session-3 was by Mr. Alpesh Dafda who introduced various aspects of PFMS.nic.in that is Public Financial Management System. Then he further guided how to use NSS portal prepared by GTU for Program Officers. [SESSION-3]

High Tea was ready sharp at 5.30pm and it was followed by open session for discussion where many POs asked about NSS grant, how to use software, how to get registered for PFMS etc. Valedictory function was accompanied by certificate distribution, closing ceremony and vote of thanks and the event declared completed sharp at 6.00pm. Major Outcomes of Event:

1. Received briefing directly from Regional Director of NSS2. It helped to clarify the goals and objects of NSS 3. Helped better coordination between Regional office – University – POs. 4. Handling of PFMS becomes easy by this shibir.5. Helped to know about various aspects of YoungIndia portal and MyGov portal6. Got chance to get acquainted with GTU NSS portal.
