Chartered Engineer, Registered Project Professional, Lawyer CEng, FICE, FAPM, FCIArb, FDBF Qualified in 1980 and following professional training, has practised internationally since 1985 specifically in the areas of engineering and construction project management and the management of disputes, has handled the establishment of complex JVs and Special Purpose Vehicles for international commercial organisations. Led projects in regulated environments using legally prescribed gated processes. To date he has represented over forty major companies with respect to business and project leadership, dispute board member selection and dispute avoidance and resolution and has been involved with projects in excess of US$5 billion. Contract leadership for $10bn oil and gas field developments programme including final investment decision and overarching contracting strategy. As a qualified engineer, project manager and lawyer, he is able to address many of the issues in the design, procurement and construction phases of project delivery. His work on major projects has included the resolution of legal and project management issues associated with planning and land access, social performance, environmental sustainability and local content. He has been responsible for claims and dispute management internationally using many standard forms (ICE, NEC, JCT, FIDIC). His work in law has obliged him to consistently view his decisions in the light of their legal consequences and how the results of his decisions would play out in the community whether that be family, the community which shares the effects of a particular project or the public at large. He is used to his work being viewed by an audience beyond the immediate stakeholders, assuming that any of his actions may result in public scrutiny. He has been retained as an Interim Executive in the Leadership Teams of organisations, programmes and projects throughout the world. In particular, he has been involved with the implementation/construction phase of projects and programmes covering Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management and Preparation for Production (Mechanical Completion). Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and Fellow of the Association for Project Management and is a Certificated Project Manager/Registered Project Professional. Holds the title “EUR ING” and is a chartered engineer throughout Europe. He holds the degree of BSc (First Class) in Civil Engineering, Master of Philosophy in Civil Engineering Production Management, Post Graduate Diplomas in Engineering Management and in Law. He is a member of ACE (Association of Consulting and Engineering).

Member of the FIDIC President’s List of Approved Dispute Adjudicators and a Fellow of the Dispute Board Federation (Geneva). He has sat on Dispute Adjudication Boards in many jurisdictions along with numerous instructions regarding dispute avoidance and dispute resolution. He conducts training related to FIDIC contracts’ dispute resolution procedures.
