PURPOSE OF THE POLICY: To oversee the safety of food produced, manufactured and sold within the country in order to safeguard the protection of people’s health and consumer’s rights, as well as strengthening the competitive development of the country’s export food industry, through a modern, integrated, efficient and transparent national food safety system.

(Health Autority, SAG and Sernapesca);To Create an Integrated Systems in:harmful algal blooms and Red Tide (Knows in Chile

like “Marea Roja”) Residues and contaminants: Dioxins and PesticidesEmergents: ListeriaSupporting improvement and harmonization of

processes controlling imports and exports

3. To Promote the strengthening of scientific and technological capabilities

• Diagnostic capabilities of the different Privateindustries and the Public services relationated

• Development capabilities (personnel, laboratories, research) on the selected andpriorizated topics.

4. To develop an institutional framework that may facilitate and promote the coordination of public entities, and open spaces for the participation of consumers and all food chain actors.

• To Spread the National food Safety Policy

• Make a Draft legislation proposed to Congress

• To Develop communication and participationmechanisms: consumers, academics, workers, employers and producers

– Newsletter, Design Tips, Web, Design response tocitizens

• To Develop an integrated information system andhealth alerts

In summary, the Schedule for2009-2010 it proposes:
