San Pedro de Atacama is one of the most visited cultural attractions in Chile, preferred by millions of tourists worldwide, considered as the archaeological capital of the country thanks to its geographical environment. The town is the center of the native culture of Atacama, who inhabited the desert a long time ago. The museum Padre Le Paige has about 4,000 skulls, countless mummies, weapons and bowls in exhibition. The main economic activity of the area is based on tourism and agriculture.San Pedro de Atacama has a variety of services for tourists who visit every year, among which stand out hotels from 2 to 5 stars,

restaurants and bars, crafts, call centers, hospitals and police. For adventure seekers, there is a wide variety of activities to participate in, including hiking, mountain bike, sandboarding, and horseback riding. Its stable climate makes any time of the year a good time to visit. However, if you dislike cold weather, June to September can be uncomfortable when temperatures are very low at night. Also, if you want to avoid the crowds, tourism explodes during high season, so you might feel overwhelmed by the number of tourists if you come from December to February.

Santiago, the core of the country, and beautiful harbor city Valparaiso

SantiagoThe capital of Chile is a dynamic and modern city where colonial mansions sit among soaring skyscrapers. The city is reinventing itself, with arts, nightlife, and restaurants.Santiago offers much more than one might anticipate. Here, ancient traditions coexist with 21st century life on every street and in each neighborhood. You’ll find everything from small cafés with Wifi, exclusive boutiques, great bookstores and fine handicrafts to big malls and shopping strips which offer all of the top brands. This metropolis, which is home to over six million people, offers hundreds of options for every budget or interest as well as activities that can be enjoyed throughout the year.On a clear day, fresh after winter showers, Santiago warms up in one of the most spectacular settings of any city in the world. A

glance through the downtown blocks reveals a mighty circle of mountains - the snowcapped Andean peaks to the east, and a smaller coastal range to the west – which surround the Chilean capital.

ValparaisoValparaíso was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2003. Since then, new hotels, restaurants and bookstores have appeared throughout its geography bringing new life to its classical character. Nevertheless, its port culture remains and it is considered the main historical support of “Pancho” - as they call the city with affection; this is especially visible in the port area. You cannot leave this city without getting on one of the heritage elevators that are still in use, or take a tour of the bay in a boat from the harbor. You must also try the chorrillana - potatoes, onion, egg and fried meat- or go out and party at the subida Ecuador (Ecuador Uphill Street).

Easter Island or Rapa Nui “The navel of the world”Easter Island is over 2,000 miles from the nearest population center (Tahiti or Chile). This island is a triangle of volcanic rocks in the South Pacific, and it is famous for the giant stone monoliths, called Moai, that dot its coastline. The early settlers named the island “Te Pito O Te Henua” (Navel of The World). Admiral Roggeveen, who came to the island on Easter Day in 1722, named it Easter Island. Nowadays, the land, the people and their language are all referred to locally as Rapa Nui. There has been much controversy and confusion concerning the origins of the Rapa Nui people. Thor Heyerdahl proposed that the people who built the statues were of Peruvian descent, due to a similarity between Rapa Nui and Incan stonework. Some have suggested that Easter Island is the remnant of a lost continent, or the result of an extra-terrestrial influence. However, archaeological

evidence indicates that the discovery of the island was by Polynesians who were led, according to legend, by Hotu Matua around 400 AD. Upon their arrival, besides the impressive and enigmatic statues, the islanders possessed the Rongorongo script; the only written language in Oceania. The island is also home to many petroglyphs (rock carvings), as well as traditional wood carvings, tapa (bark) crafts, tattooing, string figures, dance and music. Easter Island remains to this day as one of the most unique places you will ever encounter; an open air museum showcasing a fascinating, but unfortunately lost, culture. The Rapa Nui are among the friendliest people you will ever meet, and the landscape is truly amazing - with its volcanic craters, lava formations, beaches, brilliant blue water, and archaeological sites.
