Annual Used Book Sale @ Library Nederland Community Library Foundation Saturday, July 30th from 10-4 Sunday, July 31st from 12-4 Photo cc simon thomas@ flickr The American West as Living Space In September we will be hosting a three-part reading and discussion series surrounding “The American West as Living Space.” Dates TBD but will likely be three consecutive Thursdays at 7 pm; the discussion will be moderated by a humanities scholar. All participants will receive a free copy of the “American West as Living Space” reader, which includes nonfiction, journalism, fiction, and poetry from authors such as Wallace Stegner, Elizabeth Fenn, Annie Proulx, Louise Erdrich, Gary Snyder, Robert Hass, and Kay Ryan. Space is limited; please email Jay at [email protected] to reserve a spot. This program is sponsored by Colorado Humanities, which received a grant for a proposal focusing on Pulitzer Prize-winning literature about the American West. Colorado State Park Passes now available for checkout Thanks to the efforts of the Colorado State Library, you can now check out a Colorado State Park Pass for free. The pass checks out for a week and gives you free admission to any of Colorado’s 42 State Parks. We have two passes. You can reserve (place a hold on) one of them; the other pass is available first come, first serve. Along with the pass, you’ll get a backpack that includes a directory of the state parks, a couple quick reference field guides, and a pair of binoculars. They are available to mountain area residents with a Nederland Community Library Card in good standing. Details can be found here . Children's author and healing practitioner Andrew Newman will visit us for a special all-ages Storytime and guided meditation practice starting at . During this Storytime, he will read from his collection of "Conscious Bedtime Stories," and will give us tips and practices to bring awareness and love into your children's bedtime routine and daily life. We had such a blast with Crazy 8s last year, we are bringing it back for a whole new season starting in September. Space is limited, and the club is for kids in 3rd-5th grade.
