ADULT Adult Education GED/HISET/TASC Classes Orientation Day 1: Mon., March 23, 9 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. Day 2: Wed., March 25, 9 a.m. OR 5:30 p.m. If you miss day one of orientation, you may not attend day two. To attend any GED class, come to orientation first. Orientation will take two days to complete. Bring a notebook, pen, pencil, and reading glasses. Please do not bring children as there is no childcare provided. You will be introduced to the Colorado Grants Guide and key search techniques. Nonprofit Workshops: Foundation Directory Online Advance* Thu., March 19, 9 a.m. Learn how to maximize the Foundation Directory Online tools to identify potential grants. The database provides information to include grant recipients, their location, dollar amounts granted, and suggested funders. This class is intended for participants who have already taken Grant Seeking. Library Explorers: Karaoke Tue., March 24, 10:30 a.m. Free your inner songbird in this program for adults of all abilities. Choose a tune and we'll play the music to back you up. Props will be provided. Computer & Device Help Tuesdays, 2 p.m.; Wednesdays, 1 p.m.; Fridays, 10 a.m. Get questions answered about your smartphone, tablet, computer or eReader. Bring your own device or laptop to get help and learn how to troubleshoot on your own. Poetry Heals Tue., March 10 and 24, 9:30 a.m. Poetry Heals brings therapeutic poetry writing to people living difficult lives. We will write together in groups and individually, sharing tools that are positive, effective, portable, and affordable. We provide all the materials, and you walk away with a poem or two. All ages and abilities are welcome. PenPop! Thu., March 19, 4 p.m. Join us each month to discuss your favorite genres and topics in pop culture. Each month we will discuss a new topic! Snacks, games, and prizes will be provided. Mountain Biking 101 Tue. March 3, 6 p.m. Presented by Mountain Biking with Stacy. In this informative talk, learn about different types of riders, bike components, body-bike separation, and how to keep your eyes scanning ahead. Repair Café Fri., March 21, 1 p.m. Toss it? No way! Fix it at Repair Cafe! Together with our Repair Cafe volunteers, you will disassemble, troubleshoot, and possibly repair your broken items. Save money, help the environment, and learn repair skills with your local community! Drop-In Crafts Thursdays, 3 p.m. Join us every Thursday afternoon to learn a new craft skill, or bring your own project to work on. All supplies will be provided. March 14: Family Movie Join us for a family-friendly movie and snacks! March 21: Lego Build Show off your creativity with this family event. Please do not bring your own LEGOs and all masterpieces remain at the Library. (However, donations are gladly accepted!) March 28: BalloonDog Paintings This project, inspired by Jeff Koonsiconic Balloon Dog series, is just plain fun! Kids will create their own brightly colored balloon dog from a series of ovals by adding a few swipes of paint to give their dog the illusion of a round, shiny form. For ages 5 - 12. Spring Break Cool Science Wed., March 25, 10:30 a.m. It may be Spring Break, but there's still time for one more blast of cold temperatures - liquid nitrogen cold! Find out what -322°F is like and what it can do to ordinary things! For ages 5 - 12. Super Snakes Fri., March 27, 10: 30 a.m. Celebrate our natural environment by visiting with a variety of snakes from Nature's Educators. You may even get a chance to touch them! For ages 3 - 12. After School Adventures Thursdays, 4 p.m. March 5: Attack on the Fort Your children can join the battle at this Library STEM program. Theyll learn a bit about the Trojan War, build catapults, trebuchets, and forts, and have a battle." For ages 5 - 12. March 12: Crash Test Dummy Build an electronic crash test dummy using plastic eggs, LEDs, and batteries. Then, test out and build creations to protect their egg dummy. Don't let the dummy's light go out! For ages 7 - 12. March 19: Bottle Cap Magnets Make fun magnetic bottle caps and magnetic poetry words. For ages 9 - 12. March 26: Upcycled T-Shirts Practice upcycling by turning an old t-shirt into a tote bag for yourself! Working with other tweens, weave more old t-shirts into a collaborative piece of artwork to display in the Library. T-shirts will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. For ages 9 - 12.
