Both our adventure tower and garden table timbers are slow grownfrom sustainable sources and pressure treated using water basedpreservatives to exacting standards. It must be said, that even thehighest quality materials need some maintenance from time to time.

As a result of our experience in the playground industry, we use pine, asoftwood, in the manufacturing of all our products. The pressure treatmentmeans there is no need for painstaking sanding and oiling that is often thecase with traditional hardwood equipment.

Wood is a natural material and liable to shrink and swell as the seasonschange. All bolts, screws and fixings should be checked for tensioningfrom time to time. We would recommend tightening gently during thesummer months, and reducing the tension gradually during the autumnand winter as the timber takes on moisture once again. Should crackingoccur, this should not be a cause for concern because of the timberpressure treatment. Light sanding of these areas may be prudent todull down any edges.

Sovereign offers a limited twenty year timber warranty* against rotand infestation, where reasonable care has been taken to maintainour products.

In addition, where Sovereign has assembled a play tower, a limited oneyear installation warranty* is given.

Our policy is one of continuous improvement. We reserve the right tochange colours and specifications shown within the brochure withoutprior notice. We will however endeavour to keep customers informedat all times.

*Normal wear and tear, acts of vandalism and accidental damage are excluded.

The new Tree Hopper adventure tower is a welcome addition toour range and may offer more appeal to those with either youngerchildren or those families with restricted space or budget. Thisbrand new alternative is offered on a supply and deliver only basisand is designed to be easily assembled with simple instructions.

Despite offering exceptional value for money the play unit is stillmanufactured to extremely high standards and retains a 20 yearwarranty on the timber against infestation and rot.

We offer this play tower with either 1m or 1.5m high decks whichencourage imaginative play with the aid of the play telescope andpirate’s steering wheel. The tower deck is accessed by the logclimber for the younger children or the ever popular rock climber forthe slightly older ones. The exit is via the slide and to the side wehave the double width swing arm which comes, as standard, with acradle seat and wrap around swing seat (alternative accessoriesavailable on pages 18 & 19).

Requiring an area of less than 5 x 4 metres, we know that this unit is going to be hugely popular with our customers.

The Sovereign Treehouse was originally designed and manufactured in 2009. It wasprimarily created to satisfy the public’s request for a treehouse of superior build

quality and was first exhibited at Grand Designs Live at Excel in London. It wasaimed at those families wanting a substantial piece of play apparatus but didn’t

necessarily have the space for the Foxtail tower with swings or similar, and wefound that our treehouse provided the ideal solution.

The impressive 1.8 high main deck is fully enclosedwith timber and stands just short of 4m in full height.As well as an entrance door, it also has an internaltrapdoor and a ladder leading from the deck levelto the secret area below which also has a sideescape route. At the front of the main deck is anopen top 1.5m high deck with safety bars to eitherside and an option to have a slide off the front. To access the deck we have provided our everpopular rock climber and also our attractive logclimber for ease for the younger children. To finishthe treehouse off we have added the ‘parent’sfavourite’ picnic table with benches underneath thefront deck with an additional lower level viewing

window for further fun.

As a play area or hideaway, the children’s imaginationcan truly run wild with a Sovereign Treehouse.

The Thumper adventure tower with double swings is our flagship playtower that has consistently been our best seller since we released it intothe residential market 6 years ago. It has also proved to be a hugesuccess in various commercial sectors too (see pages 15-16).

Sovereign is a member of RoSPA and we have fully qualified inspectors in-houseavailable to carry out visits where appropriate. We have fully trained and experiencedprofessional installation teams throughout the UK and our installations are carried out tocomply with BS EN 1176 & 1177 where applicable.

On top of that, all of our timber carries an impressive 20 year warranty against rot andinfestation. We have gained FSC accreditation for our timber and we are also approved by Construction Line and CHAS to give all of our customers the ultimate peace of mind.

Health and Safety

No matter how safely we produce the equipment and no matter how much care is taken tosupervise the children, there is always a risk that a child may trip or lose their grip and fall.Sovereign takes this very seriously and to that end can recommend the following:

ResidentialIf the equipment is being installed into your back garden and is purely for use by your own children and theirfriends and family, then by law by you are not obliged to have any safety surfacing and anything you choose to dois at your own discretion. That said we strongly recommend that a form of surfacing is used underneath theswings/monkey bars and also at the end of each activity where applicable. The easiest and most cost effectivesafety surface for your garden is Grassguard matting which can be purchased in single mats of 1m x 1.5m andare simply pegged into the area that is required. Alternatively, you may wish to use some form of bark chippingsand enclose the play area with railway sleepers, for example.

CommercialIf the equipment is being installed into any form of premises where the area will be deemed to be open for publicuse then we recommend that a safety surface to comply with BS EN 1177 is present. The different compliantoptions for these vary in both looks and cost and are as follows:

Grassguard mattingAs previously mentioned for residential use, Sovereign’s recommended rubber matting is a flexible and costeffective form of surfacing that is laid onto a mesh and then straight onto the well drained grass area. Withinweeks the grass below will grow through the matting and the only maintenance is to mow straight over thematting when the grass gets too long.

Bark chippingsSovereign only use high quality deluxe hardwood fire resistant chippings that have virtually all dust particlesremoved. Once the appropriate area has been prepared, the depth of the chippings required depends on the typeof activity installed and is then raked and enclosed for easier maintenance and appearance using log edging. (Otherforms of bark or wood chippings can be sourced individually and we are happy to advise on the required depths.)

WetpourThe favoured surfacing in schools and for local authorities, wetpour is a virtually maintenance free versatilerubberised surface. Its depth varies again depending on the equipment installed, and it can be laid directly ontoan existing hard standing surface or onto grassed areas that have pre-prepared base works. It is available in avariety of bright colours and, as it is laid ‘wet’, can be formed into different shapes to create a more attractiveplaying environment.

Artificial Grass and Softbond mulch surfacing are also available and fully compliant - please enquire for further details of these.
